Have you ever come across a time where you suddenly find yourself in a whirlwind of a panic attack? I have had a few in my life, but the worst one as of yet happened to me just this past Tuesday. I had been in my third day at my new job. I am a worry wart about my personal things being stolen or lost, so I always pay attention to where I put things. I had placed my wallet in my vest and had it zipped up.
I had gotten into it during lunch to buy a beverage and put it back in the pocket, and zipped it, or so I had thought. At end of my shift, I said my good nights to fellow workers, and headed to my car. Two hours after I got home, I went to get into that same pocket for a piece of paper. I didn't feel my wallet, and so I thought, ok maybe I had taken it out and set it somewhere. After looking in the kitchen and dining room I head to bedroom and check jacket I had worn as well as pants pockets.
By that time, it dawned on me that I had lost my wallet and could not figure out how it popped out of the pocket if it had been zipped.
Hands on my head, I literally ran around the apartment looking all over for it and saying "no no no no no" repeatedly and freaking out the cat. By that time, it was 11:35 pm and work closes at 11 pm. I hopped in my car and flew back to work, and passed a cop going the other way, and prayed not to get pulled over, for speeding.
I was able to gain entry (night crew was there to clean) and asked if anyone had seen or turned in a wallet. I was sent to customer service. I got lucky someone was still there. She checked lost and found as she asked what it looked like. Soon as she opened the drawer, there it was. All my cards and everything were still in it. Someone had found it out in the parking lot. I literally prayed to God and had a huge sigh of relief as I said Thank God for honest people. There are homeless and shady people that hang around. Had my wallet been found by anyone in that group, I would have been screwed.
Lesson learned from this? Never Ever carry more than one credit card at once, and never carry other things with info that can make your life hell in the wrong hands.
Now I find myself constantly checking and rechecking all my pockets repeatedly.
