Healing Jams.. - A Picture is Worth A Thousand Words.

There were the jars supposedly filled with delicious jams, all of them provocative… Apparently, according to their colors they are mango jelly, guava, peach, cherry, blackberry….

When I was a young Scout, we were given a famous little book that depicted the life or death of a Scout, also known as “The Scout's Bible”. We were made to recite it until we learned it letter by letter.

One of the famous quotes I remember is: “… red, yellow, and white will kill you, blue and purple you will taste…”. It may not be accurate, but that's what I remember…

My mind, in a matter of a second, discards the colored jams, red, yellow, leaving me to decide between the extremes that are purple.

Now, which of these two jars would be the correct one to select? One of them contains the elixir that will save the village; that's what a village elder told me lol before he passed away.

I also remember an expression my mother used to use: “son, all that glitters is not gold”, it was not of her authorship. But it was good advice. So I chose the franc with purple jelly that didn't look appetizing, the first one on the left.

I could not take more than one jar because in doing so, the old man told me, a self-destruct mechanism would start, and I would not be able to escape. So, on my way with my precious cargo and convinced of my wise decision, I returned to the village.

Arriving in the village, I handed over the vessel to Murbik, the piache, who began the ceremony to inoculate everyone. The ritual began and went on for more than two hours of dancing, drumming and shouting.

At the end of the ritual, we all received a dose equivalent to a grain of wheat. Two days later, the rash on our bodies was gone. The herpes, or as we knew it, “Shingles” had been cured.
