@mariannewest's Freewrite Writing Prompt Day 2075: my greatest enemy
Even if the riddle got him thinking, what didn't make anymore sense was when the door opened before him, even if he hadn't thought up of an answer yet for the serpent's knocker and there stood a life-sized mirror that reflected back at him.
One side of the silver frame that guilded the edges gleamed the same words the snake head had hissed out, "Your greatest enemy will come for thee."
"My greatest enemy?" He mumbled to himself, still unsure of how he'd proceed onto this next trial before him. But before he was given more time to come up with a plan of action, he heard something slap against the mirror's surface-- specifically coming from the mirror's other side-- enough to spread cracks along the glass.
He would have stepped back in caution, had he not been frozen in place with what was on the other side of the mirror-- or more precisely who, as he stared back at the sinister looking version of himself, hellbent on breaking free.
With one final slap, the glass shattered into a million shards...
