I think this about sums it up and is a good take. Overall, a lot of what hive is supposed to be about is getting away from "filler" or spammy short posts that mostly only serve to get view counts and traffic up. But, if a specific community has collectively decided that short posts work for them that's a little different.
So my advice to the poster is to err on the side of longer, more in-depth posts for most things, but to not feel like they have to avoid short posts if a community encourages them. For entries posted directly on your own blog I think longer is both better, and much more likely to draw interest anyways
