The clouds block the sunlight, just like the darkness that buried the brightness of my life. A big black bird flies over my head and I quickly pull down my bashleq. I'm afraid it's a spy.
I walk in the streets and the moments of my life are reviewed in my mind. The days when I lived happily in heaven and worshiped the gods. At that time, the weather was always sunny, the streams were always flowing and the trees were always green. I was also happy with my life, although I was bored most of the time.
One day, while I was walking on a forest road, I lost my way and entered a strange place, where the trees had no leaves and their trunks and branches were as black as coal. The earth there was cracked and gray worms were moving between the cracks.
Worry and fear pressed on my heart and a voice inside told me to leave as soon as possible, but I ignored it and continued on my way. It was as if something was calling me towards it, something formless and silent, something that cannot be understood by the five senses and can only be felt by the soul.
As I was walking, I suddenly came across a cloaked person who was sitting on the ground and leaning on a tree trunk. His face was hidden under the bashleq, but his hands were visible and I shivered when I saw them.
There were large watery blisters on his hands, some of these blisters had burst and yellow purulent liquid had flowed from them and dried up. His nails were long and curved and black.
The mysterious cloaked man raised his head when he noticed my presence and I saw his cracked bloody lips and cold sores around his mouth. He began to speak with a voice that sounded like it was coming from the bottom of a well, and his messy black teeth were revealed.
"Finally someone came here!"
His tearful but happy tone touched my heart. I went to him and sat on the floor in front of him.
"Who are you? What happened to you?"
"Ah, your voice is as beautiful as you are! You have revived hope in my heart by coming here."
I smiled.
"I'm glad I made you feel better."
"Yes, your brilliance makes everything better, even a cursed creature like me."
"Cursed?! Who cursed you?"
"Gods. They cursed me."
"But why?"
"It's a long story."
"I'd like to hear it, please explain it to me."
"Years ago, I was just an ordinary person. I farmed and raised livestock in the farm and was busy with my life. One day, a hellish monster attacked our village and ate some of the residents there. Of course, he did not eat humans whole, but only drank their blood and then threw away their dried bodies.
All the people of the village were terrified, they could neither stay nor run away. I was also scared, but at the same time, something was raging inside me. A part of me was awakened that I didn't know existed until then.
In my workshop, I made a wooden stick and at night I went to the heart of the forest and called the monster and asked it to fight. The monster revealed himself and I was surprised to see him.
I expected to see something ugly, but this creature was the most beautiful man I had ever seen in my entire life. His long golden hair shone like the sun, his skin was as white as marble, and his eyes were blue like the ocean. He was wearing a long white robe and was holding the dead body of a woman.
When he saw me, he said in a sad voice:
"You disturbed the funeral."
I shouted:
"Luxury is over. I have come to put this stick in your heart and take your life."
He gently and carefully placed the woman under a tree and said in a voice devoid of emotion:
"Then do it."
I kept my stick ready and ran towards him and to my surprise and disbelief, he didn't even move and let me drive the stick into his heart. He moaned painfully, tears filled his eyes and blood decorated his white robe.
For a few moments, he looked at the stick that was buried in his chest, and then he fixed his blue eyes on mine and whispered:
"Thank you. Now I will repay the favor."
And then he attacked me with extraterrestrial speed and sank his fangs into my neck. I screamed to the sky and tried to pull myself back, but he wrapped his arms tightly around me and no matter how hard I struggled, I couldn't escape from his arms.
Moments later, I lost consciousness and when I woke up, I saw that I was in my bed and some of the residents of the village had gathered around me. They happily hugged me and called me a hero.
The next day, a courier from the gods came to me and said that because of the service I have done, the gods have decided to reward me and from now on I am going to go to the upper world and live in heaven. They wanted to turn me into an angel.
I felt that good fortune and happiness fell on my life like rain, but I did not know that the happiness was accompanied by bad luck.
I went to heaven and became an angel, unaware that the vampire monster had turned me into a creature like himself before he died. I had forgotten how he had given me his own blood after biting me and drinking my blood, and I had drunk it with gusto.
Little by little, thirst woke up in me and started to burn me. I was burning as if there was a desert inside me and only water of a river could irrigate it.
I plunged my head into the heavenly rivers and drank their water, but it was useless. I finally had to accept the fact that I had become a vampire monster.
At night, I descended from heaven to earth and searched the streets and alleys for an evil person and hunted him down. I did this every night since then, just like that vampire monster had done and no one noticed.
Finally, one night the gods found out about my work and arrested me, cursed me and left me here."
My heart ached from what I had heard.
"How could the gods do such a thing to you? You were innocent and had no fault."
"My kind angel, to them I'm a vampire monster. The phrase good monster is like a dark joke to them."
"The work of the gods has been abominable. Shame on me for ever worshiping them. It's over, they have no place in my heart anymore... And as for you, I'll go down to earth and hunt a wicked man for you and bring it here so that you drink his blood, perhaps this way you will find the ability to resist the curse."
He said in an excited voice:
"My dear angel, would you really do this? Thank you, thank you very much."
And so it was how I went down to earth and hunted down an evil human for that poor vampire. But when I returned to heaven, I was faced with a shocking scene.
They hung that vampire from a wooden pole and put a stick in his heart. His mouth was open for an unfinished scream and there was a pleading expression in his open gray eyes.
When I saw him in this situation, I felt severe anguish and wanted to scream and blaspheme the gods, but tried to control my emotions and stay calm.
Now every day I come down to earth, walk the streets and alleys and think about how my deep love for the gods turned into pure hatred.
