Summer, California Nursery alongside 210 freeway. Once I get into something, I GET INTO IT. This was probably my 10th nursery that month. I was collecting mescaline cacti, San Pero variety.
This section of this nursery was the best I have seen. After I got this weird looking caterpillar cactus, it resembled more of a coral reef then cacti. Then I moved to the rows and rows of succulents. The strange spiral fractal shapes and vivid colors caught my eye, made me wonder what mysterious that these ancient creatures hold. I bend over and whisper to the lil ones, don't worry I'll give you a good home, please tell me all your secrets.
Their beauty is shaped by the heat of the sun, and the harness of the land. Yet they grow their roots firm, shine their awe, and reach for the heavens. Oh, lil buddha of the desert I have lots to learn from you.
I only had enough money for a few of my new friends. I promised the rest, that I would be back as soon as I could...
