Earlier today a neighbor said she had never eaten a yam, and wondered what the difference was between a sweet potato and a yam. I had read an article about that on the internet not too long ago, so I looked it up and read it to her. What we call a yam here in America is actually a variety of sweet potato. A real yam is grown in Africa or Asia, and rarely found in this country except in specialty shops. They are difficult to peel when raw, and look entirely different from what we call a yam.
I think Sweet Potato would be a good name for a cat. I should try to remember that for the next time I get a cat. Actually, I shouldn't get any more cats, because I am pretty sure I am allergic to them. We already have three, and they manage to sneak into the house and find a place to curl up. I can't bring myself to throw them outside in the dead of winter. Except for Ulysses. He has a chronic condition from his years as a stray before we took him in. He sneezes a lot, and has very sharp claws to knead my stomach with. I really don't like that cat, but he loves me. Oh dear.
I didn't actually set a timer, so I am going to pretend the five minutes are up now.
