The prompt
Binta's Phobia
Amid groans and teasing, binta awoke to blisters. She struggled to have a gaze on the insect that was crippling beside the wall of her bed just above her head. At first, it seemed blur, but screamed in fear as she got a clear picture of the tiny insect. She feared spiders from childhood. Having heard story of people who got stung by them. She stood Stuck in her position as she kept screaming for help, she couldn't take her gaze off the spider in fear of the unknown. The spider crawled through it cob webs heading her direction slowly, like it knew her fears. She ran toward the door post. Struggling to open the door knob, she realise it was locked. And the keys lay on the bedside adjacent to where the spider as now curled it cob webs.
She screamed louder this time hoping someone will hear her and come to her rescue but again, no one seem to be responding to her call, she held tight the door. She could image the burning eyes of the spider and it six legs grasping her. "Help". She screamed, her eyes all looking red. She had just two options, to either build the courage to face the crappy insect and get her keys or remain stuck by the door side. The second option seems bad staying locked up with the insect she feared, she decided to take the first option.
She couldn't believe this was the option she had gone for as she walked gently toward a rod resting beside the tall closer locker. She closed her eyes. Hitting the bed randomly, hoping that one of the strikes may kill it. She changed position. Then with blind hit this time with much anger against the insect.
She paused at some point to check if any of her hit has luckily gotten on the spider but realised the spider was no longer there but above her. Running fast toward the ceiling that seem open, she do have taken the keys and ran out but right now, she dared to hunt it, she couldn't believe her courage. She jumped. Trying to take the rod higher until it reaches the position where it was now resting, Binta, what are you doing? Mum called from the sitting room.
She tried few hits and it smashed the spider, bringing it down to the ground this time. She watched the insect squeezed to death almost immediately. Though dead, she couldn't pick it up, the phobia seem to have returned, she hurriedly took the keys and ran out. It seem like a great victory on her side to have killed the spider, to how possible, she couldn't explain, all she thought of was the great win. She was all soaked up from the sweat that gushed from her skin to have wakened beside the spider that she feared most. Mum held her closely, after listening to the story "Now your phobia is gone".
