Many of us spend so much of our lives trying to please everyone. In order to be liked or just feel accepted we bend, smile, give and accommodate. Sometimes, we end up exhausted, feel frustrated; and in the end, our efforts still do not seem enough. But here is the reality, we were not and are not meant to be liked by everyone. Not even for a season. Just think onn your own, do you even like everyone yourself? The answer must be big NO! If, you are thinking about a ‘yes', you are an angel my friend.
Think of yourself as the juiciest, sweetest orange. Still, some people will hate you for being bit sour. And, it is normal, my friend, it is just a reflection of their flavor, their taste or in simple words, their worth. They are just not aware of your precious worth. The breed is just not according to their taste and that is perfectly fine. Not everyone has a good taste, dah! (No offense, JK)
With the passage of time, I have learned that no act of kindness, unlimited effort or selfless gesture of goodwill can make someone like you, if it is not in their heart to do so. In the end, all that matters is one wrong move and you are done.
As Poe said, “Years of love have been forgot, In the hatred of a minute”.
This world is full of preferences, experiences and people, people of all type. So there are infinite ways to unlock or to reach hearts. Just because someone does not have access to your heart, it does not mean your heart is lacking something. You are still You, even when people do not approve. Not everyone see things the way you do. And that makes you, YOU!
The human hearts are just like doors, not every key can fit. But, there are some, who open us in ways we never imagined. They understand us, see us, love us, care for us and all that without forcing or pretending it. That is the magic of genuine connection; that is the comfort of being loved. We have designed life this way, or maybe, life itself has designed it that way.
Who cares!
Just remember, you are strong so stand firm, because it is part of this beautiful journey too. Sometimes your values, your morals, your ethics, your ideology and your sense of judgement will clash with someone else’s. They might see you as a staunch rebel, you maybe hated by now and I know, it actually hurts. But your worth does not decrease this way. If someone cannot see the way you see it, you are not obliged to do so.
Be brave enough to show your true colors, be patient enough to wait for the rights hearts — the one that belongs to you. I tried to be a good person, to be a kind human, to be a pleaser but not anymore. I am really done now.
So, to all the pleasers out there, it is completely normal to let go of the need to be liked by everyone. Save your energy for the people who truly are your. Be unapologetic, of course not in a bad manner, be full of yourself and just believe for the right ones.
The world is you; you makes the world. And that is more than enough.
