Aside from her stunning beauty, Tonye was taken in by her expensive look. He knew that she was from a wealthy home. Smart Tonye instantly conceived a plan and set it rolling immediately; he urged Tayo to move behind a counter across the shop floor, then Tonye sneaked behind Alice. He then pretended to have seen Tayo suddenly, so he called out. "See who I see after years!" Looking and waving at Tayo and then Tonye bumped into Alice's trolley. The act was deliberate yet; it seemed so accidental. Tonye immediately bent down to pick up the stuff that fell off, while he apologized profusely.
Alice was calm and took the incident as an accident. Tonye tried to initiate a chat by introducing himself, but she wasn't forthcoming. He, therefore, offered her his contact card explaining that he needed to be sure she suffered no loss. Pleading with her to call and confirm that she didn't damage anything due to the accident. Alice didn't want to establish any contact with him, hence her initial rejection of the card. But his persuasiveness and diction combined with his good looks, caused her acceptance of the card.
Tonye had wished that she called him as soon as possible, but Alice didn't call him for over a month. Gradually, he lost all hope of hearing from her. Even though he frequently thought of her.
