Well, I don't know how to begin writing this story or reflection I want to share with you today, but I'll start by remembering my teacher who once asked me, when I was in school, to write a text explaining why it's important to say thank you and be grateful. I'm no expert on these things, but if there's one thing I am, it's grateful—grateful to my family, my friends, and my coworkers. Being grateful seems very nice to me on everyone's part. We often say thank you almost automatically, like when they give you a seat or bring you salt at the table. But there are times when thank yous come from the heart and are deeply felt. Other times, words aren't necessary to say thank you and be grateful.
Both saying thank you and receiving it are very beautiful, and I feel like it's being lost among younger generations. I always see people who are more rude and less grateful, but I've always been grateful to everyone, even those who don't say thank you.
For me, saying thank you is as important as saying I love you because by saying thank you, we show that we care and that there is affection and joy in receiving a good deed. Besides, in this life where everything is expensive, saying thank you is free. When someone thanks you, it makes you feel truly alive and as if you truly matter, so it's very nice and sentimental.
Once, I remember that I was really sad because things were going really badly at work, and a friend came and thanked me just because I had dedicated a few minutes of my day to help her with a recipe. When she thanked me, my day changed, and I no longer felt so bad about work because I felt truly useful to my friend.
Then I can believe that truly saying and saying thank you makes you a better person, or at least a more considerate person with more and better friends. Saying thank you helps you feel good about others, and receiving it helps you feel good about yourself always. We must also thank God and life for having another day, for waking up in this world with another day to do the things we love and to be happy. That's why I thank you today for reading me.
