Episode 45. Prelude to War

The empires of this world are divided into three main ones: the Empire of Xenostia to the west, the Empire of Constantine to the east beyond the Rockies, and the Empire of Castile to the south. The north is covered in ice and uninhabited.

In Constantine's empire, news arrives that the lord of Aragon have taken control of the mana stone mines.
The emperor summoned two lords from neighboring states in the Rocky Mountains.

Emperor Constantine: "Count Eric and Baron Albert, welcome."
Count Eric: "Your Majesty, it has been a long time."
Baron Albert: "Your Majesty, it's been a long time."

Emperor: "Count Eric, it is said that a mine of Mana Stone has been discovered in the Empire of Zenostia. Are you aware of this?"
Count Eric: "Yes, I have heard. I have sent miners and soldiers to the Rocky Mountains, but I have not heard from them."

Emperor: "lords should prepare for war. The Empire will send reinforcements, and we must take the Mana Stone Mines from they."

Count Eric: "It is dangerous to cross the Rocky Mountains directly. You may lose much of your power to the monsters. We should first capture Viscount Oen's estate and then take over Aragon's estate."

Emperor: "Understood, I will appoint Count Eric as your commander, so please make sure you prepare well."

Count Eric: "Yes, Your Majesty, I will prepare as you say."

Soon after, spies sent by Count Eric began to operate in the towns of Aragon and the Viscountry of Oen.

Count Eric began to accuse Viscount Oen of the Empire of Genostia, claiming that his miners and soldiers had disappeared in the Rocky Mountains, and declared war.

The combined forces of Count Eric and Baron Albert then launched an attack on Viscount Oen's lands.

Viscount Oen's forces were outnumbered and retreated to the castle.
He then sent a letter to Minho of Aragon asking for military assistance.

Minho's lord's office

Minho receives and reads a letter from Viscount Oen's messenger.
Viscount Oen's messenger : "Count Eric of Constantine is attacking our lands. Please provide military support."
Minho: "I understand, wait a moment. I will call an emergency meeting to discuss this matter."

Minho is in a meeting with Stella, Knight Commander Rian, and Deacon Robert.
Minho: "The Constantine Empire is attacking the Oen Viscounty. He have requested military assistance, what do you think?"

Stella: "The goal of this attack by the Constantine Empire is to capture the Mana Stone Mine."
Captain of the Knights of the Rhine: "You are correct. They will definitely attack our Aragon territory."

Minho: "If that's your opinion, I will provide military support. Stella, please stay behind and defend the estate. Knight Commander Rian will go with me to provide support."

Minho decided to provide military support.
'In the meantime, we can check the results of the knights' and soldiers' training. ' Minho thought.

The next day, all but the knights and soldiers guarding the Aragon estate prepared to leave.
Fifty knights, two thousand soldiers, and dozens of mages, led by Knight Commander Lian, gathered at the lord's castle.

Minho: "Viscount Oen's estate is in dire straits. Let's set out quickly and retaliate against the Constantine Empire. !!!"

Minho's troops arrived on the ridge overlooking Viscount Oen's castle.

에릭 백작 : “로키 산맥을 직접 넘어가기는 위험합니다. 몬스터들로 인해 전력의 상당량을 잃을 수 있습니다. 먼저 오엔 자작의 영지부터 점령후에 아라곤 영지를 점령해야 합니다.”

에릭 백작은 자국의 광부와 병사가 로키 산맥에서 사라졌다며 제노스티아 제국의 오엔 자작에게 시비를 걸기 시작했고 전쟁을 선포했다.

그리곤 에릭 백작과 알버트 남작의 연합 부대가 오엔 자작의 영지를 공격을 시작했다.

오엔 자작의 부대는 연합부대와의 수적 열세에 영주성으로 후퇴하였다. 그리곤 아라곤 영지의 민호에서 서신을 보내 군사 지원을 요청했다.

민호의 영주 집무실
민호는 오엔 자작의 전령으로부터 서신을 받아 읽고 있다.
전령 : “콘스탄틴의 에릭 백작이 저희 영지를 공격하고 있습니다. 제발 군사를 지원해주십시오”
민호 : “알겠소, 잠시만 기다리시오. 긴급회의를 소집해서 이 문제를 상의하겠소”

민호는 스텔라와 기사단장 리안, 로버트 집사와 회의하고 있다.
민호 : “콘스탄틴 제국에서 오엔 자작영지를 공격하고 있습니다. 군사지원을 요청했는데 의견을 말해보세요.”
스텔라 : “이번 콘스탄틴 제국의 공격의 목표는 마나석 광산을 차지하기 위함입니다.”
라인 기사단장 : “맞는 말씀입니다. 반드시 저희 아라곤 영지를 공격할 것입니다.”
민호 : “의견이 그렇다면 군사 지원을 하겠습니다. 스텔라는 남아서 영지를 지켜주세요. 리안 기사단장은 저와 함께 지원을 나가겠습니다.”
민호는 군사지원을 결정했다.

리안 기사단장을 중심으로 한 50명과 이천명의 병사들 그리고 마법사 수십명은 영주성에 모였다.

민호 : “오엔 자작의 영지가 위급한 상황입니다. 신속하게 출발해서 콘스탄틴 제국을 응징합시다. !!!”

오엔 자작의 영주성이 보이는 산등성이에 민호의 부대가 도착했다.
오엔 자작의 전령 : “영주성이 함락된 거처럼 보입니다.”
민호 : “적국의 병사수는 어떻게 되나요?”
오엔 자작의 전령 : “제국의 지원군, 에릭 백작의 부대, 알버트 남작의 부대까지 합친 것으로 보고 있습니다. ”
민호 : “쉬운 싸움이 아니군요.”
민호 : “일단 이곳에 야영준비를 하겠습니다.”

민호는 일단 산등성이에서 야영준비를 시키고, 자신은 성에 몰래 잠입하여 상황을 보기로 했다.

민호는 수적 열세에서도 적국을 물리칠 수 있을 까요?
