It wasn't the usual road
It was filled with thorns
The singing of birds were low
Scattered on the floor were weathered leaves
It was a lonely path, a way to self discovery
It wasn't the familiar path
It lacked the empathy people so desired
All who walked through it were strangers
Strangers to loneliness and strangers to fear
What lied ahead was veiled
No one could see farther than his sight can
Only faith was the substance they held onto.
It was a path to growth, a path to courage
All who walked the lonely Path learned courage
And above all, learned to be a survivor
