*Who is it that worth more that gold
The one whose love never gets old
The being who keeps me warm in the cold
Ready to protect so brave and bold.*
*Who is it, that money cannot buy
A being so humble with personality so high
With a cry, a nation can raise
With a smile a battle can die.*
*In a coven was she building a nation
For nine months, building with unstop motion
Then came the nation, ready to function
Searching all around and bringing solution.*
*Oh woman, what have you given to me
Something that has tied me on a leech
Life. So rare yet very free
Why give such a gift
Oh Mother.*

I wrote this poem based on a local song we sing in my tribe (Yoruba), the song passes a message to show the value of a mother in a child life. The song is a five line song and it goes like this.
Iya ni wura biye biye (A mother is as precious as an expensive gold)
Ti akole fowo ra (That can't be bought with month)
O loyun mi fo shon mesan (Carried me for Nine month in her belly)
O pon mi fo dun meta a a (Carried me for three years on her back)
Iya ni wura biye biye, Ti akole fowo ra.
Mothers are precious to us and I dedicate this poem to my mother. Grace Fashanu. Thanks for reading.
