I loved writing this poem for my Women Who Write group, it was a fun activity that made me explore a side of my writing I didn't know I could write. I think that writing for kids it is a complete different side of the writing world. But, it could be a fun one, where we can let our inner child to go out and run wild
Milos the Gecko
Milos the gecko,
sat on a wall looking out to the adventure.
Would you like to do this forever?
Yes, of course!
Says the yellow lizard with a big bright smile.
Let’s go to the old Great Wall.
Let’s go to the new tall building,
where you can swim in the sky and never fall down.
Let’s go to eat;
one fish, two fish,
a blue fish, a red fish.
Let’s hop from the moon to the sun.
Let’s visit the cat with the funny hat
that lives on Mars.
Let’s go around the world and back,
over and over again,
until we are too tired to walk a mile.
Milos the gecko,
Sat on a wall and admired the world.
Milos de Gecko,
was ready for the adventure,
To see magical places
and eat interesting things with faces.
Oh! Where to go now?
Says the yellow lizard on his shoulder.
Off to the adventure!
Wherever the wind blows.
We don’t have plans for today or tomorrow,
That’s the great adventure.
Find new places to see the sunrise,
and the moon drop.
High mountains and low lakes,
old pyramids, and fresh paint in new buildings.
We chase the old and find the new.
Oh, the places we will go!
Does anyone know them all?
Read in an old cave,
Bike on a no-speed limit highway.
Dance in the warm night with a sky full of lights.
