The Breakup

My girlfriend was high-maintenance,
She made me buy her things.
She liked to drink champagne,
And go to fancy restaurants for dinner.
I had to break up with her,
Before I go broke.

I had to buy her flowers every week,
But she hardly utters a word of thanks.
She wanted to go in style,
To Paris for a holiday.
She needs to fly first class,
And stay at 5-star hotels

She expected lots of attention,
But she would never take the blame.
It’s always my fault,
If things don’t go her way.
She had a lot of demands,
And I was treated as if I were a servant.

I couldn’t take it anymore,
I told her I was leaving.
And she went on a rampage,
She yelled at me and threw things.
Then she cried a lot,
After all, she was a drama queen.
She said she hated me,
But I just didn’t care anymore

Note:
This humorous poem is actually inspired by an incident that happened more than 30 years ago. I went on a date with a girl who was immaculately dressed.
After dinner, I drove her home. At that time, it was raining heavily, and the ground was very wet. She looked at the ground which was filled with flowing water and said to me, "I am wearing velvet shoes, can you carry these shoes for me as I don't want to get them wet." As a gentleman I obliged but that was the last time I saw her. Until today, I still do not know what velvet shoes are.
