of the day we christened our son.
Gathered down at Garston old church
with family and friends, bar none.
done up like a proper kipper,
as he anointed little Gerard's head
my mind started to flitter.
as the priest droned on and on,
about life and death and the renaissance
we'd experience with our first born son.
the footie would soon be on.
Time was ticking and I was feeling sick
that I might miss kick off.
about which pub was showing the match
saw a text from my mate who lived in Bootle
get down the Farriers Thatchbut the beer was nice and cheap,
I looked accross at my wife Estelle
and took the proverbial leap.
ran right out the echoing hall,
looked back at my wife, shrugged and shouted
"I'm just off to watch the football."
Well... we held off Man City to a draw yesterday securing a point, which didn't really get us anywhere but was better than a loss 😂
With Liverpool currently third in the Premier League, it was important that we held our own against Man City, which we did. With so many matches left to play in this year's Premier League 23-2024 season, I think Liverpool have a good chance.
Anyway, after enjoying myself a little too much watching the match in the pub yesterday 🍻 I thought I would share this comedy poem with the hive community that shows the (sometimes inappropriate) levels of passion that Liverpool fans have for their team.
Thanks for reading.
