Ride Away
The lanes merged and we were found,
No space in front and no way round.
Forced to be in each other's path,
Last to first and first to last.
Welcome sights passed us by,
In a blur of laughs and sighs.
What you were doing all along,
Was stealing kisses you didn't want.
I should have seen the glimmer in eye,
I should have seen through the lies.
You were never going to be the one,
You were always going to turn to run.
The strength and will frayed,
And frozen in place you became.
Distance you craved closed to nought,
Suffocation in the space you sought.
Kick it down another gear,
Release the clutch of all you fear.
I am never strong enough to say,
Start your engine and ride away.
