Expectations of beauty,
hidden beneath the shallow breath, of our discontent,
afraid to reach beneath the surface,
to reach within the depths of our awareness,
lost,
we struggle to find our way.
Amongst the words of others,
who focus only on their personal growth,
Screams that go unheard,
buried deep,
under the weight of our expectations,
as we struggle to rise above the judgements of others,
to find our own identity.
The layers of distrust,
seek to drag us under,
threatening to drown us,
as we resist this change that ripples from within.
From within,
embrace this silence,
as words that wait to be wrote,
bubble to the surface
and with it, our courage breaks through.
To pause,
allowing our breath to guide us,
to feel our way into this world,
to open ourselves up to the flow,
We
Creative
Majestic
Beings.

The older I get, the less attached I have become, to this idea of beauty that has been sold to us. A beauty that is very much on the surface, that has us focusing on how we look instead of how we act and our impact on the earth. A superficial beauty, with such unrealistic expectations.
How lost we can become, as we try to find a way in which to fit into this world, where who we really are, is never acknowledged or recognized. Where labels are thrown around, so that we can fit neatly into boxes. Boxes that can be clubbed together and shelved, forgotten about.
As though, we can only ever be one thing. As though life itself is linear, and we can only ever choose one path.
The pressure we put on young people, to decide who they will be, who they should be. When really, we our whole life we should be transforming. Changing with each new experience, overflowing from the boxes we have been placed in.
Instead, we are being told we are too extreme, too loud, too shy, too troublesome.
No one can tell you who you are, do you even know who you are. Do we even need to know, can't we just trust in the process, of growth, expansion and transformation. Why can't we, be silent in some moments and roar with pain in others. Why should we have to shelve our need for expression.
For We Are, Creative, Majestic, Beings after all.
