Hello, my dear Hive Friends! I’m typing this blog on the spot, right before I head to bed. Sometimes the best stories come unplanned, and as of this writing, I just couldn’t resist sharing something that made my day brighter and my tummy happier.
Yesterday, my generous neighbor called me up. She was standing at the gate, holding a plate of torta she had just cooked. With a smile, she explained that she had experimented with a new viand for their lunch. Instead of the usual meat or fish, she thought of using her cans of Century Tuna.
Here’s what she did:
• Mixed the tuna with flour to bind it together.
• Added a splash of all-purpose cream for richness.
• Seasoned it with her favorite spices.
• Tossed in small slices of carrots for color and crunch.
She proudly called her creation “Tortang Century Tuna With Carrots.”
And let me tell you—it was truly delicious! The creaminess balanced the tuna flavor, while the carrots gave it a subtle sweetness and texture. It felt like comfort food with a twist, something simple yet thoughtful.
To make the experience even better, I prepared a toyomansi sawsawan (soy sauce with calamansi) on the side. The tangy and savory dip perfectly complemented the torta, enhancing every bite.
I’m especially grateful because she never forgets me. Her kindness always finds its way to my doorstep, and it reminds me how blessed I am to have such a thoughtful neighbor.
Moments like these remind me how food connects us, not just through taste, but through kindness and creativity. I’m grateful for neighbors who share their experiments, and for Hive where I can share these little joys with all of you.
Thank you, my Hive Friends, for reading this bedtime story of generosity and flavor. Wishing you all good meals, good company, and a good mornight!
