There are a lot of features for PeakD that I have ideas for, but I tend to fail at blocking out time to create posts where I explain them in detail. This is one that's been swimming around in my head lately that I think would be great for content discovery and providing additional practical utility to Hive.
Collections
A collection is just a collection of posts that you can group together onto a page. Also could be thought of as a playlist, but on a blogging platform, "Collection" seems more fitting. I think it would be great if both regular accounts and Communities could create collections, and to take the feature even further, I think it would be nice to be able to favorite, or subscribe to other people's collections.
So the basic idea would be that you can go to a users page, or a Community page, and they have a dropdown of Collections. When you click one, you are taken to a page that still resembles the profile page or Community page in your preferred layout, but it's a custom selection of posts created by that user or Community Admin.
Then these pages are something that you can "favorite" or subscribe to, so that in your own profile user information, you have a list of Collections that you have easy access to. Some potential use cases for this.
- Easy to find instructional material for Communities
- Easy to sort content for users that may want to produce multiple types of content. For example you like to write and play games.
- Easy to create favorite lists of posts that you like and want to not only have access to(the current Bookmarks feature on PeakD already offers this), but also that you'd want to share and make public.
I think having a different page for all of these would make for a great browsing experience and certain genres of Communities would have a much easier time being navigated and organized. For example, new user help communities.
What do you all think? Is this a feature you'd like to see on PeakD? Let me know in the comments.
