A few years ago I bought a kettle and the Lid broke off just a few Werks later.
So I printed a new one, but the print failed in the middle, but it was possible to take the part to replace the lid.
(maybe not beautiful, but it worked)
Now a few days ago I recognised little black flakes in the water from the lid 😬
It was time to replace the part, so I designed a new one.
The old one worked for years...
After nearly 2 hours the new one was printed and I designed it in a way that I could insert a metal Socket, to avoid Abrasion again.
I wanted to wrap the lid in aluminium foil to protect it from the heat, In my imagination it wrapped around perfectly, looking super good... The reality was a bit different, but anyway it worked.
Now I am pretty sure that it will work again for a few years.
If I imagine how much waste could be avoided through simple Repairs for really small money.
Just sad!

Vor einigen Jahren habe ich einen Wasserkocher gekauft und der Deckel ist nach einigen Wochen abgebrochen.
Ich hatte dann einen neuen Deckel gedruckt, leider ist der Druck ungefähr bei der Hälfte schief gegangen, es war aber trotzdem möglich den Deckel zu ersetzen.
(vielleicht nicht besonders schön, aber es hat funktioniert)
Nun vor einigen Tagen habe ich dann schwarze Flocken im Wasser bemerkt, die vom Deckel stammen. 😬
Es war an der Zeit das Teil zu ersetzen.
Der vorherige Deckel hatte bereits Jahre gehalten.
Nach knapp 2 Stunden war der neue Deckel gedruckt, ich hatte ihn so konstruiert, daß ich eine Metal Buchse einsetzen konnte um Plastik Abrieb in Zukunft zu vermeiden.
Zusätzlich wollte ich den Deckel in Alufolie einschlagen um ihn vor der Hitze zu schützen, in meiner Fantasie sah das ganze natürlich hervorragend aus, die Realität sah nicht ganz so toll aus, aber es hat funktioniert.
Jetzt bin ich mir ziemlich sicher, das es wieder für ein paar Jahre funktionieren wird.
Wenn ich mir überlege, wieviel Müll vermieden werden könnte, durch kleine Reparaturen für kleines Geld.
Ziemlich traurig.
