Hi Folks,
Just a really quick heads up that https://www.pluralsight.com/ has a promotion going right now that provides their entire library of courses for free for the month of April.
Pluralsight has a bunch of various courses that can help anyone looking to learn programming to achieve their goal. Similar to many other sites out there, this is a wonderful resource for anyone who wants to learn a new language or start down their programming journey with their first language.
I haven't personally used this much yet - but I thought I'd take advantage of some free courses when a coworker of mine mentioned it as I'm always eager to get more programming knowledge, and I thought that I'd share a message about that here for HIVE as well, just in case one of you want to check this out.
Signing up is pretty simple, and doesn't rope you into an automatic payment after April ends - so there's zero risk to forgetting about the account and getting a nasty surprise bill like some sites. At the end of April, you just lose access to the courses unless you chose to move to a paid account (which starts at $29 USD/month or $299 USD/Year).
After signup, you're presented with a quick 'Area of Interest' page (which you can skip of course if you just want to dive into the site).
Because I'm mostly interested in Software Dev, clicking that I'm presented with a ton of options. This is about 1/3rd of the list:
I selected a few that I'm interested in and already work with, just to see what this does once I reach the main page after signup.
And, it seems like what it does it just provide me some initial courses based on my interest - which is exactly what I expected. The UI is clean, has some options to set goals and track my progress, and at a cursory glance seems like it might be a really useful site. We'll see how this month goes, and after that I'll decide if I take the plunge and grab a paid account or not.
If you decide to take this opportunity too, I wish you the best of luck. Let me know what you end up deciding to learn about!
