Next month I am flying to Istanbul, Turkey to spend two weeks there. I plan to join an ETH group I have been contributing to for the past two years, colleagues from all over the world will be meeting there. The city is hosting DevConnect, a gathering for ETH developers where a bunch of Ethereum projects host events for the community. Today I finally decided to apply for the ETHGlobal Hackathon taking place on DevConnect week during the 17-19th.
At Devconnect events, you can have deep discussions about trending topics in Ethereum, and collaborate in person on problems you are currently trying to solve. The Devconnect Cowork is a place to network and meet the people working in Ethereum.
One of those events is the EthGlobal Hackathon so I am excited to join my first-ever hackathon. I am not a coder, but been working on different EVM projects for the past 3 years and will be joining a team of Solidity coders to get into the flavors of participating in one of these events.
I am quite impressed by the amount of organizations sponsoring the event and the way it is organized. It makes me think, something similar could be organized in Hive once the smart contract platforms are up and running in the near future. It is a great way to encourage App development by getting together developers, product managers, and entrepreneurs who have a product idea and are willing to create a group to develop their first MVP.
Sadly, the recent conflict in Israel is making some events consider their participation as they feel the region is not safe enough. I just hope war does not escalate and we all can enjoy those days in Turkey.
