Solar tech sucks, it takes 20 years to break even, by then you got to replace it. And that's if you don't live where there is snow and you got to spend hundreds/thousands each year to clean it off completely eliminating any savings.
There is much more efficient solar coming, but unless you live in an area where you can get a crazy amount of direct sun, you will be lucky to break even after 20 years.
I don't have solar, always wanted it, but that's how I have seen it based on the research I've done.
