Very good morning hivers, today I want to tell you about my experience in the last workshop I gave on art therapy through mandalas. It was an intimate meeting with 6 women, even though we were of different ages, professions and stages of life, I found it incredible how we all agreed on the same theme: our own freedom, the desire to be more authentic and more ours every day.
It is curious how we get lost in the social pattern of life, fulfilling roles and when we give ourselves the opportunity of these spaces and experiences that take us out of the routine, we embrace and awaken that daring, voracious woman, with courage before life but from the richness of ourselves, without judging, without war between us, just being, light, free and accompanied.
The day started out rainy, but we arrived at the Doterra building in Las Condes, a few steps from the Golf station. I remind you that Doterra is the brand of essential oils with which I work aromatherapy and not only that, they are my natural medicine, with them I have been able to improve my self-care habits. Together with other professionals we give workshops each one in their specialty.
After being grateful for the chaos of the rain and the cold weather, we huddled over a coffee while we got to know each other. Once everyone was ready, Andrea, my partner in the activity, was in charge of setting the mood by awakening creativity with the oil: wild orange, for me one of my favorites because it tastes divine and really brings back good memories with my pastry friends, especially with their orange cookies.
Once in tune with the intention of the workshop. I explained a little about the origin of art therapy, how important it is to go back to the center with activities like this, because then it expands us just like mandalas. A way to portray what we have stored in the heart and mind and although it seems individual, in the end we are connected by small points of energy.
Then I explained to them the technique of pointillism, with the cardinal points, so they began to make their mandalas, being free to choose the sizes of their points, their tools and colors, because I not only took liquid paint and brushes, I also offered them sticks and colored pencils. As we listened to a playlist ideal for the activity, step by step they started to get more intimate and to talk about personal things.
Once they finished their works, I asked them to write a little bit about how they felt there, like a technical sheet where they can come back as many times as necessary. The truth was a very nice experience because even though I was the guide, each one had the opportunity to express herself and give us advice.
It is amazing how art is a universal language that can empty and fill us as long as we are willing to experience it. This is what I love about art therapy, it allows for an intimate, non-judgmental, even sacred space where what matters is your comfort and freedom of expression on your chosen canvas. Would you dare? Thank you so much for the company and opportunity you always give me every time you read me. May you always have the opportunity to nurture your heart and soul. The photos are my own record.
