Back in 2018 I stayed in Cape Town for a while and adventured around with my brother and sister-in-law. On one of our adventuring days we ventured off for a picnic up at Kirstenbosch botanical gardens. We walked so darn much that day, I thought my legs were going to fall off at bed time but man was it so worth it!
First off, we found this little bee and I spent an unreasonable amount of time trying to capture the best in focus photo of him!
So as you walk into the gardens we were met with a courtyard with fascinating statues, sculptures and bonsai trees. This particular stone sculpture was on of my favourite and I am not too sure why but it is pretty awesome.
My dad is the one that got me into bonsai trees when I was younger and he gave me his obsession for the incredible art of them. As a birthday gift a few years ago he gave me a starter kit and I was able to grow my own bonsai tree from seed which has been the most rewarding experience for me, watching it grow! My small tree is still a little baby compared to these bad boys though!
Nothing better than enjoying a snacky picnic lunch with this view!
After our picnic lunch and crazy walk around one of the largest botanical gardens in the world (528 hectares or 1,300 acres) we then stopped at the beach to sit with our toes in the sand for rest, just enjoying the sound of the waves.
As a reward to all of our walking we stopped at Mojo Market in Sea Point to grab the best ice-cream for dinner! Seriously, the nicest ice-cream! Baskin Robbins please come back to South Africa!
The only issue with the Mojo Market is that if you go there with no idea what you feel like eating then you have a problem because absolutely everything looks and smells incredible and you pop around going ooh maybe I want sushi but wait the pizza looks good but what about that interesting looking burger... oh man, I want to try one of everything...
On another note though, go and try Earthfire Pizza... so good, so tasty, so cheesy, so flavourful and made in a wood burning oven!
If you are like me and don't know what you feel like eating, then I insist trying their pizza! Just look at that cheese!
