Twenty year journey.
Through ups and downs mainly caused by me and my crazy head we have ran, walked and crawled to this point in our lives together. As each year ticks and our lives are more intertwined like two trees growing side by side becoming as one.
We are seated.
It is a custom between the both of us to organise our anniversary in swapping turns each year. Last year she took us up north for a little get away. So this year it was my turn. I hadn't really been thinking much about organising anything because, Covid.
So a month before I asked for a clue as to what she wanted to do? As quickly as I asked her she said she'd like to go to this restaurant at the Crown Sydney in Barangaroo. I googled the place and didn't think twice about it since I had glanced at the menu before booking on that day, a month ago.
It's important that I reiterate I glanced at the menu. We get there on the day for our early dinner as 5.30 PM, she joked we were showing our age since we were having a very early dinner and would probably go back home early to sleep early. I protested at that because I had planned a movie at the park, which was cancelled because Sydney had been experiencing flooding level rains.
I am handed the menu below and my eye balls almost pop out and I was frantically looking at my bank balance on my phone app all at the same time trying to maintain a calm exterior, that James Bond look, I did not fail of course.
I had decided that based on how she ordered I will follow suit on what I can comfortably want to eat with my baby.
We decided on a shared serving of six oysters and the Zucchini flower dish.
We savored the entrée with a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc, her choice since I am a beer kind of man plus I was a designated driver so could not really drink.
Five hundred day old meat.
Her choice being the Shiro Kin Scotch Fillet. Succulent wagyu steak. I shouldn't have had a little taste because I had food envy the moment it touched my mouth. I can honestly say the first time I have eaten meat that melt in your mouth.
I chose the Stone Axe Sirloin steak. I did not think the price matched the meat. It tasted like all the other meats I have had in the past. I guess it was the company and atmosphere that I had as my highlight.
I had forgotten that I had also mentioned in my booking that it was for an anniversary dinner so they gave us this little sampling of dessert.
It rained after our dinner so we hurried back to the car and did not bother walking around Barangaroo.
Thanks for your time
