''Why do you girls sit in the room all the time?''- asked our Balinese friend when 2 months of our Bali life has already passed,- ''Let's go to the Tanah Lot Temple''.
Tanah Lot is very unusual. However, I use the word ‘unusual’ in every post about Bali. But what shall I do? That's the way! Each Bali temple is unusual in its own way.
The Tanah Lot Temple stands on a rock. This is one of the most sacred temples of the island. This temple can only be visited at low tide. And when the waves come close, the place next to the temple is completely flooded with water. Maybe it is because of this that Tanah Lot is called a temple on the water, although in fact it is not.
Balinese believe that the sea is the home of demons and evil spirits, and temples protect people from them.
Tanah Lot is a temple of worship of the sea gods, the main of them is Bharara Segara.
The Tanah Lot Temple is active, religious services are held here every day. Before entering the temple, all people must undergo a special ceremony and drink water from the holy spring..
After a trip to Tanah Lot, we drove to a Balinese handicraft factory. Just look how beautiful it is!
You can buy these crafts, or you can just admire them. The art of Balinese wood carvers is known all over the world.
These figures of gods, people, animals are carved by local craftsmen with simple knives.
There is a whole craft village and many shops where you can buy these masterpieces of Balinese art.
Well, and then when you are tired you may have a coffee on a Balinese plantation with a gorgeous view of the dense vegetation.
Or you may bathe in the radon bath.
You may have a snack in a nice restaurant with a view of the jungle.
See how passion fruit grows.
Be impressed with a snake fruit:
That day was great! And many others too.
To be continued..
