Hello to all members of this wonderful community. Today I want to write to you about a visit I recently made to one of the historical places in my hometown.
If you search a little about me, you will know that I am Cuban, and today I will talk to you about nothing more and nothing less than the place where Christopher Columbus discovered Cuba.
How do I get to this place?
Well, according to historians, Christopher Columbus discovered Cuba in a place called Cayo Bariay, belonging to the Rafael Freyre municipality in the province of Holguín. Rafael Freyre Torres, which is the full name of the municipality, is about 34km from the provincial capital. To get to the municipality it is necessary to use one of the available means of transport, buses, state taxis or rented ones, the choice is given on the monetary availability you have to choose from.
Once you reach the municipality, you go to Cayo Bariay, which is 8km from Rafael Freyre. In the same way, you must choose a means of transportation, which in this case, the local community has the options of going by bus, the well-known motorboats with a capacity of 4 people or also by taxi.
Arriving at the place
Upon arrival at the place, you breathe history from its beginning. The path is an embankment and I suppose it has been left that way to preserve the nature of the place as much as possible. As you go deeper, you begin to observe bohios, and emblematic sculptures that represent the story that is told.
What recreational options does the place offer?
This place is a large natural museum, but it has staff dedicated to the task of explaining the main places and their meaning. From the place where they say Christopher Columbus landed to where the meeting of the two cultures occurred.
If you enter the facilities, you can find excavations where fossil remains of native people from those times have been found, as well as pots and other curious objects from the time.
You can also see sculptures of aborigines, and a staff dedicated to dressing up with this theme to establish an atmosphere of those years and go back to the moment when the discovery of the country occurred.
If you want food or a drink, the place also has an establishment where visitors are offered offers in the currencies in force in the country, national currency and the MLC.
My personal impression
I love history, I like to go to these places where they tell you curiosities that you sometimes overlook in books or in the basic studies we carry out. Furthermore, there is nothing better than seeing it with your own eyes, it causes unique wonder and curiosity. With the permission of the entity's staff, I took the task of taking some photos of the places that caught my attention the most and without a doubt I want to share them with you so that you can enjoy this trip like I do, which I would love to repeat because my child loved it.
