Hallstadt is a tiny city that looks like it was painted, too beautiful to be real. Set between steep enormous mountains and calm waters of crystal-clear lake. Yet it’s one of the oldest cities in Europe with history tracing back 7000 years ago.
History started when storages of salt were found here, so first inhabitants started to live here. Because of it the culture and historical value of this city is that much important. That days salt was extremely inportant not only for cooking and health but also for preserving food instead of fridges. Soon Hallstadt became a rich and prominent city of trading with convenient way on water.
Water not only served as a way of trading and transport but also defendance role. It was hard to reach this tiny village from every side so it was quite peaceful during all the wars.
Today the city is recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site with no permanent inhabitants but rather tourists. The third photo is panorama waiting for you
