What's up, fellow Hivers! Have you already checked off your summer bucket list? Or are you still deciding where to go? I have a good recommendation that will surely make your summer worth remembering. Try to visit Aya Beach Resort in Catmon, Cebu.*
At Aya Beach Resort, beauty lies in simplicity. It is the kind of place where doing nothing feels like doing everything. The whole place invites you to sit back and relax and just do nothing at all. That was exactly how it felt when we arrived at Aya Beach Resort in Catmon, Cebu. It was as if the sky had spilled into the ocean or maybe the sea had reached up to hug the sky. Everything around me was painted in shades of blue.. Also, when you stands at the edge of the pool facing the sea. There is a certain kind of peace in your mind. No rush, but the breeze.
Truthfully, I was so mesmerized by its ambiance. Looking at the place outside, you will never think that the ambience is good. It is just a small resort, I would say. But it will cater to all your needs. Hence, the resort was very simple yet aesthetic.
We went there one Saturday and we were too lucky that the place was not crowded. Thus, we were able to enjoy every corner of the resort. What makes this resort more interesting is that the water in the pool comes from the sea. It's like they pump the water from the ocean into the pool. I would say it was safe since they installed a filter before the water finally comes to the pool. So, it is like the pool's water is flowing and moving just like the sea.
Apparently, the pool is elevated from sea level so if you want to go to the sea, you just need to access the stairs right beside the pool. So, basically you'll have two choices whether to try the pool or go right away to the sea.
The resort is also budget-friendly compared to other high-end resorts. For just 80 pesos, you can already avail yourself of their utilities. If you want to rent a cottage, you have lots of choices from a cottage worth 500 pesos to 600 pesos. Of course, there is a big difference between the two. In our experience, we rented the 500-peso cottage and it was okay. It already has a table and an outlet for charging or for plugging your music accompaniment. It was big enough already for seven people.
And how to get there?
Well, it is just so simple.
If you come from the southern part of Cebu, you can take the northbound bus to Catmon. It would take two hours to travel from the heart of Cebu. But need not to worry because there are stunning views along the way. The resort is actually located at Barangay Macaas in the Municipality of Catmon. It is far enough to feel like an escape, but so close enough to be convenient, and trust me, the journey is worth every minute.
The whole experience was simple yet remarkable. Aya Beach resort is not that flashy and that what makes it so special. It is quiet and calming that would feels like a gentle reset from the chaos of everyday life.
So, if you are looking for a serene getaway where the sky actually meets the sea, blurring into one, where the colors soothe the soul, where you can just breathe deeply, Aya Beach Resort is your place to be.
