Hello, my friends.
Friends, do you remember my trip to Karelia? I wrote about him a week ago. Today I want to describe my visit to the Valley of Waterfalls, which I visited with my children on the second day of rest in Karelia.
The Valley of Waterfalls is a section of the Iyjjoki River (Ihalanjoki), which flows near the city of Lahdenpohya.
On the map, the main threshold has the name Ijkoski. All names have Finnish roots, or rather, they originally have Finnish names.
You can get to the Valley along the St. Petersburg-Petrozavodsk highway. The exit from the highway is located 10 km before reaching the city of Lahdenpohya and is indicated by a sign. At the entrance, you need to buy a ticket to visit the waterfalls, and you can also buy a ticket to visit a small reindeer farm.
This is a route direction indicator
Well, then. We went ahead!
The descent to the river begins. It is good that it is equipped with a staircase. The river is quite deep below. I counted it that way, and I got about 130-150 meters.
Just before we entered the Valley, 2 large excursion buses left the parking lot. We were very lucky. There were few people along the river. There was no need to push and look for the optimal time for photographing the river.
They say that there is little water on the river this year. Probably, with a lot of water, the waterfalls would look even more interesting.
But even so, you can sit on the benches that are located along the shore and enjoy the surrounding sounds - the singing of birds and, of course, the sound of water running down.
No one forbids you to go to the very edge of the water, although there are warning signs.
My companions went upstream, and I took pictures and took pictures. It was really interesting to look at each stone and just at the play of water between the stones.
But sometimes I shot the lens in the direction of my daughters and son-in-law.
We were near the river for about an hour and a half. I looked at my watch later. And at first it seemed to me that I was literally at the water for 10 minutes. I really like being near the river. A river is not a lake. This is living water, it is constantly new, not the same as it was a moment ago.
It was necessary to quietly leave the river, climb up again. But there were no stairs here anymore. A good road was made.
End of the route.
I really liked this place.
On the one hand, the river is absolutely wild, there are places where you could even go fishing. But on the other hand, it is clear that people take care of the shore, remove fallen trees, maintain sidewalks in good condition, put urns so that people do not throw garbage. Well done organizers.
After the river, we went to look at the deer. And not just to look, but also to feed, take pictures and even touch their soft horns.
Wonderful animals. We fed them with yagel, which was given to us by the owners of the farm. But most of all, deer like young birch branches!
I already wrote earlier in a review article about a trip to Karelia, because in this place you can buy very tasty cheeses made from cow's and goat's milk. You can also buy honey, but honey is not Karelian, but Altai. This seemed strange to me.
There is also a small cafe where you can drink tea, coffee, eat sandwiches with trout and red caviar.
In a word, I recommend this place of rest.
