If you are in Abu Dhabi and if ever you drive past Yas Island through the Saadiyat Road, it is not impossible to miss this red-roofed amusement park. It is the world's first Ferrari-branded theme park, Ferrari World, Abu Dhabi.
Over the years, Yas Island has transformed into a family leisure island - home to Yas Theme Parks - Ferrari World, Warner Bros. World (both indoors), and Yas WaterPark. Yas Island also became the venue of the Formula 1 Grand Prix for several years already.
Like the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, it's almost like you have not officially visited Abu Dhabi if you do not come to Ferrari World and you do not have a picture underneath the main entrance of the Ferrari World, that says, "Welcome". As for us, throughout the three separate times that we have been here, we did not get a decent picture. What a shame. LOL.
Anyway, this month, Ferrari World is apparently celebrating their 10th anniversary. Since we cannot go there right now, let's just go back in memory lane to our past trips to this exhilarating theme park.
Planning Your Trip
First, let's talk about getting there. Ferrari World is located in Yas Island Abu Dhabi. You can get there through private transport, taxi, or public bus from the Abu Dhabi City Terminal.
You can buy your tickets online, which at the moment costs AED 295 ($80.16). Be sure to check their website every now and then to make sure you do not miss out on any existing and upcoming discounts they publish there. Most (if not all) Yas Hotels also give complimentary themepark tickets (you can choose from Ferrari World, Warner Bros., or Yas Waterpark) with the hotel booking, so you might also want to consider it.
Of course, do not forget to check prevailing safety protocols like capacity, mask wearing, etc.
Starting from 25 October until 31 December 2020, they are open from 12:00pm – 8:00pm and is closed on Sundays and Mondays.

What To Expect
Ferrari World is mostly indoors. Brace yourself to a full-packed day - there are extreme rides for the daredevils, designed to give you the adrenaline rush as you would on a Ferrari, moderate rides for the whole family, or just go around the park and try challenges like changing a Ferrari tire, check out the cool cars exhibition, or go shopping at the Ferrari store.
Remember to check the rides schedule too, as there are those which will have long queues and long waiting time.
Extreme Rides
The first time we went there, my friends and I decided to take on the Formula Rossa, dubbed as "The World's Fastest Roller Coaster", at once. I cannot remember if it was because we did not want to drain our energy for this main attraction by doing the little ones first, or we were just purely excited to attack the extreme head-on.

Call this a self-disgrace, but well, this is also a trophy. Why not? I survived the Formula Rossa. haha.
The ride was so quick that it was over before we knew it.
It hyped up the adrenaline that we actually wanted to do it again on the same day, but the queue was long and that would mean we'd miss the other rides so we passed. We definitely tried it again on our next visit.
Since we tried the extreme of the extremes, the rest of the rides were just pretty easy already.
Easy!
As extreme as the Formula Rossa, there are also rides that are family friendly like this one which would take you around a "mini-Italia" on a scale model Ferrari.
One of our favorites is the Viaggio in Italia where you get to experience the Italian landscape through a "multi-sensory" simulator.
Another interesting part is the Cinema Maranello on how Ferrari started.
Recently, they introduced the "Roof Walk" and Zip line. These were not there when we came, though I am not sure if I would be up to the Roof Walk. :D
Until The Next!
The last time we were there, we had the advantage of getting a discount c/o my friend who could get 25% discount. That's huge amount. When we went with the kids, they were still too tiny to try the rides and we just took advantage of the free entrance. LOL. Anything, if free, grab it. :D Now the kids would like to go there again but given the pandemic, it might take a long while before we decide to risk it.
Nonetheless, the Ferrari World experience is really one for the books! If you ever come to Abu Dhabi, try not to miss this too. And don't forget to ping me too!
Cheers!
