Hello friends,
We woke up at 6:00 am, so we wouldn't get stuck in traffic and get to the airport late. Our flight was at 10 am, but we had to be at the airport at 8, that’s why we had to get up early at 6 am. Even though we went to bed at 1 am that night, we were able to wake up and get there on time.
We even had an extra 20 minutes to have tea in the lounge area before boarding. The kids were just running back and forth. They were happy for unlimited amounts cookies and muffins. My daughter wrapped some cookies for her grandparents.
Just before boarding, we got together with our relatives for our flight to the Caribbean.
——————————————————————————————
The Caribbean... who would have thought I'd end up there. The island is called St. Lucia. It’s a small island with a huge selection of resorts to suit all tastes. Our resort was in Labrelotte Bay. Very picturesque coastline overlooking the beach and the neighboring resort with the white houses, on a green-covered hill.
Our flight was pretty good, 4 hours flew by unnoticed even without watching movies. The kids of course asked to play on our phones, for the peace of mind of all the staff we let them play.
Immediately upon arrival, we, as a family with children, were allowed to go through passport control without waiting in line. We hurried to get our luggage, but we couldn’t find it! My husband’s dad was helping us to find it.But our luggage was not there. We waited, then we went around looking for it again, and waited some more, but it was nowhere to be found. We finally had to go to the Lost and Found, fill out a form and go to the resort without having our change of clothes.
At first we liked our ride in the minivan, and chat with a very friendly driver, but after about 20 minutes we realized that the area is very hilly and we often turn around the hills. The first to ask for a stop was my husband. Then we moved the kids closer and I, as the most resistant to hardships, sat in the back. My father-in-law advised me to open the timy window for some fresh air. It was a great idea. I’m thankful for that🙏. It was a bit tricky, but finally I was able to open the window. Having fresh air helped me a bit and I even tried taking some pictures.
Maybe if we had kept talking to the driver, he wouldn't have been driving so fast through the hills. I understand that this is just a combination of a driving culture and a hilly road. At that moment I thought - had I known the drive would be so tedious and long (1.5 hours), I would have given up on this adventure back home, but neither of us knew about this part of our trip. We weren't even as worried about our luggage as we were about getting to the resort without ruining the interior of the minivan. Now we are safe and while enjoying every moment in this beautiful heaven like place, I think it wasn’t that bad as 🙂. Also, now I understand that looking for our luggage took us so much time that maybe it caused our driver to drive faster, so we could get there on time.
When we arrived at our destination we were greeted by a very friendly and courteous staff. We were given cold, wet towels to refresh our faces and were also treated to cold, fresh lemonade. Then our three families were placed in our cabins. The workers told a little bit about when we’re having dinner and what to expect in the morning, and we went to unpack (pardon me:-), went to get settled into our cabins.
…to be continued…
I hope you enjoyed the photos.
