Hello friends,
I would like to share with you our trip to Manatee Lagoon last Saturday.
First we stopped at Cracker Barrel restaurant for lunch.
We like eating here, and the whole atmosphere of a ranch like life is kind of what we like.
I ordered a cheeseburger, my husband and son chose a meatloaf, and my daughter got Lil’ burgers or something like that.
It took awhile for the food get ready, I think we waited for about 30 minutes maybe less, and I just was too starved. When it finally came, it looked so good. It tasted even better than it looked.
The food was great, we felt like now we’re ready to go explore.
We drove to Manatee Lagoon in West Palm Beach. I wasn’t expecting much because last time we were at Round Rock for Manatee, we didn’t get to see much.
When we came to the place there was a Manatee sculpture right in front of the entrance to the Lagoon. Did you know that another name of this mammal is a sea cow? It can weigh up to 1200 lb and the calf lives with its mom up to two years.
And then we saw the the center and a giftshop, where people could read some info about these beautiful animals, and buy some gifts.
As we walked closer to the water we didn’t see any Manatees just crouds of people were everywhere.
Then we realized that we can try walking a little further and check there. I’m glad we did it because there were about three manatees.
Did you know that manatees can hold their breath under water up to 20 minutes? Usually they come up every 2-5 minutes or so, but if they have too they can hold longer.
In the Center we saw manatee’s skeleton. I don’t know why they show manatees by two. I’m guessing because these animal live in
groups.
When we walked a little bit more further away we saw something that looked like a nurse shark. Actually, there were several of them, also there were other kinds of fish, some with stripes, others just thin and long.
The Lagoon is situated nearby FPL building.
I later found out that Florida Power and Light company actually owns this eco center.
Inside the center building.
This is the spot where we saw little sharks and fish.
Manatee anatomy information.
I hope you enjoyed the photos and found some good info about manatees.
