Animals fulfil and have a very important value in society and this exhibition makes us see them in a different way, or at least tries to consider other perspectives on them.
I have attended many art exhibitions where the protagonists were photographs and of very good quality, but until now I had not had the opportunity to see animals. And not only domestic animals, but all kinds of animals.
But the vision that is brought in this exhibition of photographic art, where several photographers participate in it, tries to show animals in various facets. Animals as a species different from humans and therefore many of them are dominated and even mistreated. This exhibition wants to show the animal side where many of them are bred for that purpose, be it slaughter, to obtain a product, for research or experimentation and much more.
I think it's a reflective exhibition that tries to get people to put themselves on the other side, and although it talks about dreams, that is to say the animal dream, which doesn't really exist, but here it's about asking oneself if it did exist, because dreams belong to the interior and the soul. So the question is ... what if animals had dreams?
This exhibition makes us aware of the fact that many animals are exploited and suffer a lot of suffering, it alludes to a moral consideration in this respect. The focus is on animals that are often enslaved.
Each and every one of the animals photographed are rescued animals and allow us to look closely into their eyes, many of which speak of very ugly experiences. Not only that, but in the photographs themselves they seem to be looking at us.
These are incredible photographs, where I admire the closeness to the animals, especially those that are not very domestic, like a big cat, and also the angles in which they were taken.
During the tour several sections are shown, such as the animals whose destiny is the slaughterhouse. From this view we are shown that it is not true as we are often shown this type of animal, such as a cow, with its tenderness because it gives us milk. The reality is that it is bred for other purposes and like this animal many others. I insist that the photographs with the black background are marvellous.
It is true that it was very difficult for me to take these photos, because of the reflections of the lights, but I think they look quite good without having a glass in front of them.
There is a section dedicated to animals that are in zoos, captive, away from their natural environment and other animals of the same species. These animals suffer a lot of stress and I know that many of them have been banned in different parts of the world and I agree with that, it is horrible to see them caged, locked up and far away from what should be natural for them. Of course the writings on the walls in the different sections speak a lot about the subject, here I only bring my appreciation.
In this section I was struck by the look on the animals' faces as if they really knew that later than the moment the photograph was taken many people would see them.
The next section was dedicated to the animals that are victims of hunting and in this case it is not about the control of animals but about those that are hunted in what are called game farms, raised with the aim of slaughtering them in the hunting market. It also alludes to the business of hunting different species such as deer and also to poaching and illegal hunting.
In this part I tried to take some close up pictures and capture the faces of the animals. They are so beautiful.
The next section was about those animals in the circus and cinema environment, which is often unknown to people, the subjection to captivity, mistreatment, pain and more. I was thinking about how important it would be for people to be aware of how much these animals suffer, especially those used in a circus, many of them suffer constantly.
This exhibition also dealt with the issue of pet- and species trafficking, the business they are in. Nowadays many species are banned as pets, it is not in their nature to be pets, but there are illegal practices and people who buy them. In addition, it deals with the issue of preserving species within the ecosystem.
The photographs in this section were very varied, of many species and were all framed in different ways. I tried to capture everything in the smallest detail.
It was sad to see this section and this little dog rescued from experimentation, it made me think about how many of them there are in the world, I know there are many and not only dogs, but all kinds of animals.
Until now, the exhibition was displayed in various corridors of the museum, until it reached the large halls. A lot of space in the museum has been devoted to this great exhibition and it was wonderful.
Below are various photographs by many photographers, where of course the protagonists are the animals, but from a different point of view to what has been seen before. Happy animals. In these cases the photographs are in colour, whereas when it comes to photographs of animals in captivity they were in black and white or sepia colours.
In these four photographs the truth is that it made me very sad to see them, this should not be like this... that's what I thought at the time.
Later on I was able to see other artists with different expressions of art, from photographs, audiovisual content, to small robots, or at least that's how it seemed to me, made with different components.
Always at the exit of that room there is a place where you can write down your opinion on small pieces of paper and you can also go to the shop to enjoy many articles related to all the exhibitions that are on display at that moment, books and various souvenirs.
It was a fabulous exhibition, I enjoyed it very much and I always hope that people will become aware of the reality of many of the animals in the world, a reality that is not good at all.
Thank you very much for joining me today, I send you my best regards. See you soon.
