Yogyakarta in Central Java, Indonesia, is known as a city — I call it — a city of everything. Yogya or Jogya is known as a city of tourism, a city of culture, a city of education (many of the youngest universities in Indonesia are there), a city of art, memories, culinary cities, and some say it is also a former city (because many have ex-girlfriends in Yogya ).
One proof that Yogya is the city of education is there we can shop for cheap books. There are at least nine locations in Yogya that travelers can use to shop for books. The eight places are Kios Buku Terban, Social Agency, Togamas, Gramedia, Periplus, Lucky Boomerang, Yogya Book Sale, Planet Book Store, and Shopping Center.
Of the nine book shopping centers in Yogya, I often shop for cheap books at the Shopping Center. Shopping Center is located near the Taman Pintar area, a very strategic area because it can be reached only by walking from 0 Km, Malioboro. This shopping center is already very well known as a place to hunt for cheap books in Yogyakarta.
Reportedly, the price of books at the Shopping Center is slightly more expensive than the Kios Buku Terban. However, I chose it here because of the consideration that I can walk from Malioboro.
Even though the weather in Yogya is not very comfortable for walking, I try to enjoy it. For that, I always choose to walk with a friend. I really don't like traveling alone.
For those of you who respect copyright, don't worry. Even though they are sold cheaply, the Shopping Center has been cleaned of pirated books. The traders there have committed not to sell pirated books. But there is no guarantee that there are no pirated books there.
According to the traders I asked about, they could sell the books there cheaply because they bought them cheaply. In addition, some of the books at the Shopping Center are used books, but they are still in good condition.
Because of its very strategic location, shopping for books at the Shopping Center can also visit Taman Pintar. The shopping center is located in the Taman Pintar Complex which is on Jalan Sriwedani Number 1, Ngupasan, Yogyakarta.
So, Yogya is not just Malioboro. There are many places that can be visited, one of which is the Shopping Center to shop for books.[]
