Hello everyone!
It's been days since I had time to write here, and it's not because I'm grounded but because I'm moving house, so it's been hard for me to find a moment to sit down and write a post. Probably this will be the last one until next week when I'm already installed in my new home and I have internet/electricity to continue posting; since from the mobile it's very complicated to see everything so small haha.

Hacía días que no tenía tiempo de escribir por aquí, y no es porque esté castigada sino porque estoy mudándome de casa, por lo que me ha costado mucho encontrar un momento para sentarme y escribir un post. Probablemente este sea el último hasta la semana que viene cuando ya esté instalada en mi nuevo hogar y disponga de internet/electricidad para poder continuar publicando; ya que desde el móvil se me hace muy complicado viendo todo tan pequeño jaja.
Today I wanted to continue telling about my trip through Italy. In the previous post I talked about the architecture and art that can be found in the different cathedrals of Florence, but it has much more. Actually, it is a small but very beautiful city with a lot of things.
This time I wanted to talk about the pharmacy of Santa Maria di Novella, or as it is known in Italian "Officina Profumo Farmaceutica di Santa Maria Nuova".
Hoy quería continuar contando mi viaje por Italia. En la anterior publicación hablé sobre la arquitectura y arte que se puede encontrar en las diferentes catedrales de Florencia, pero tiene mucho más. En realidad, es una ciudad pequeña pero muy bonita, con muchas cosas.
Esta vez quería hablar sobre la farmacia de Santa María di Novella, o como se la conoce en italiano "Officina Profumo Farmaceutica di Santa Maria Nuova".
Pharmacy entrance / Entrada a la farmacia
This pharmacy is one of the oldest in Europe, if not the oldest, since it has almost 4 centuries of history.
It is and has always been linked to the nearby basilica, serving as its apothecary, that of Santa Maria di Novella.
The Dominican friars began as early as 1221 to cultivate their own herbs for medicinal purposes and use them to create ointments, salves and different medicines. Then around the year 1612 it was opened to the public so that the citizens of Florence could have this service, and not only them, but also members of royalty came here.
Esta farmacia es una de las más antiguas de Europa, por no decir la más antigua, ya que tiene casi 4 siglos de historia.
Está y siempre ha estado ligada a la basílica que está cerca, ejerciendo como su botica, la de Santa María di Novella.
Los frailes dominicos comenzaron ya por el año 1221 a cultivar sus propias hierbas para darles un fin medicinal y crear con ellas ungüentos, pomadas y diferentes medicinas. Después alrededor del año 1612 se abrió al público para que los ciudadanos de Florencia pudiesen tener este servicio, y no sólo ellos, sino también acudían aquí miembros de la realeza.
Today it is still in operation, run by the nephew of the last friar. You can visit it for free but if you want to buy something inside, prepare your wallet because it is not very economical.
It is quite a luxurious store where you can find all kinds of beauty products, soaps, perfumes.... It is as if it were a museum as it also has gadgets on display with which formerly the herbs were pressed and the friars made medicines.
Hoy sigue en funcionamiento, dirigida por el sobrino del último fraile. Puedes visitarla de manera gratuita pero si quieres comprar algo dentro de ella, prepara la cartera porque no es muy económica.
Es una tienda bastante lujosa en la que puedes encontrar todo tipo de productos de belleza, jabones, perfumes... Es como si fuera un museo ya que también tiene artilugios expuestos con los que antiguamente se prensaban las hierbas y los frailes hacían las medicinas.

All the products they offer are handmade and natural, as they did in the old days. Although you are not going to buy anything, you can go in to browse and stroll among the rooms, where you can enjoy the frescoes painted on the ceilings of the XIV and XV centuries. You will feel as if you were walking through a small palace.
Todos los productos que ofrecen están elaborados de manera artesanal y natural, como hacían antiguamente. A pesar de que no vayas a comprar nada, puedes entrar a curiosear y pasear entre sus habitaciones, donde podrás disfrutar de los frescos que hay pintados por sus techos de los siglos XIV y XV. Sentirás como si estuvieras recorriendo un pequeño palacio.

In this same room you will find an old recipe book for making medicines.
En esta misma sala encontrarás un antiguo libro de recetas para hacer medicinas.
In the room where the gadgets I mentioned before are exhibited, is also exposed one of its star products, which to this day continues to be sold. It is the perfume "l'Acqua di S.M. Novella" whose price is around 80€. This perfume was made for the first time by order of Caterina de Medici for her wedding in 1533.
En la sala donde se exponen los artilugios que os comentaba antes, también está expuesto uno de sus productos estrella, que a día de hoy se continúa vendiendo. Se trata del perfume "l’Acqua di S.M. Novella" cuyo precio ronda los 80€. Este perfume lo elaboraron por primera vez por encargo de Caterina de Medici para su boda en el año 1533.

Also in one room I discovered that they sold their own line of liquors, chocolates.... A little bit of everything! And it was also luxuriously decorated. The truth is that the whole stay in this pharmacy, from beginning to end, had a very pleasant aroma.
También en una sala descubrí que vendían su propia línea de licores, chocolates... ¡Un poco de todo! Y también estaba decorada lujosamente. La verdad es que toda la estancia en esta farmacia, de principio a fin, tenía un aroma muy agradable.
