Les Calanques, Marseille, France.
Les Calanques is an amazing place situated in what a lot of people know as The Blue Coast, or the French Riviera.
The water is blue if you take a look from the distance, but totally transparent if you get closer to it.
To get there you can easily go by bus and metro, from Marseille city center. For example, you can take the M! and then the B1, and then, walk for a while (40 minutes more or less, in a beautiful path).
Something to have into account is to buy the ticket before because if you don’t have the ticket, you can’t pay by card once inside there.
The trip lasts around an hour, and if you ask the people there, they can share with you some tips to get only taking one bus (I remember we took only one, but I can’t find the number at this moment).
Les Calanques is a National Park, which means that is a protected natural area.
You have only nature there and it is worth it a lot to visit the place, but have into account that there are no stores, no ristorantes or anything.
In the entry, you’ll find the team that is like taking care of the place, and some chemical toilets that are the best quality ever! You even have a paper to clean and sit on…
Then, you’ll walk through a place that is not very beautiful, but here, the treasure appears suddenly. In fact, you start to smell that something amazing is very close.
And then you see it… The blue sky and the water between the white mountains.
After that, everything is magic. Your eyes can’t stop looking at the landscape.
You have different beaches in Les Calanques, and you can walk through all of them. Even you'll find "naturiste" beaches, which means that you can be naked there.
You can see how chill the people are talking or reading a book wearing literally nothing (no, I didn't take my clothing off, lol).
So... when did I travel to this place? In August 2021. I was emigrating from Argentina and my goal was to visit Madrid and see if I could stay there (living), but it happened that the government decreed a mandatory 14 days quarantine just a few weeks before my trip, so I decided, instead of trying in a hotel 14 days, go directly to France to enjoy the summer.
If you are close to Marseille, please go and visit Les Calanques, you won't regret it!!
If it's possible, travel between June and September, because is the perfect place to swim, relax, and enjoy the beautiful sun the the blue coast of Europe.
I hope you've enjoyed the post and see you around!!
