To the rocks of mystery
I have seen the stones, says the sign on a magnet I bought for my fridge, and yes, it looks like a trip to Stonehenge, south of London, in the amazing and impressive United Kingdom.
With this brief introduction I greet you my dear friends of the Pinmapple community, and take you on a moment's stroll through what was a dream trip back in September 2019, on my first very long trip alone.
At that time I ventured for a month through the wonders of the world and decided to start with the UK. Although London was my main goal, I intended to see as much as possible, because I went as a tourist.
Therefore, months before traveling, I got tickets to the attractions that for me, were non-negotiable, and researching, I discovered Stonehenge. Its mystery and its silent imposing made me sure I would be there, and so it was.
I remember the trip was a rainy Tuesday that I made as part of a tour. Arriving at the bus station and finding the group was a challenge, especially because my digital ticket clearly stated that punctuality was required and that I had to be at the meeting point 15 minutes earlier.
Well, I couldn't find it, but at almost 8 in the morning, the latest arrival time, I saw a group of people with the sign of the company I had used to buy that experience, GetYourGuide.
I had no idea where we were, and we slowly drifted away from London, as we drove into low clouds mixed with mist, as a fine rain threatened to accompany us to the rocks.
Well, it wasn't a threat finally, it was a fact. Rain was present every step of the way as we visited the monument. Monument is a way of saying, because... let's see what it is all about.

He visto las piedras, dice el letrero de un imán que me compré para la heladera, y sí, es que parece que el viaje a Stonehenge, al sur de Londres, en el increíble e impresionante Reino Unido.
Con esta breve introducción los saludo mis queridos amigos de la comunidad de Pinmapple, y me los llevo a pasear un momento por lo que fue un viaje de ensueño allá por septiembre de 2019, en mi primer viaje muy largo sola.
En aquel momento me aventuré durante un mes por las maravillas del mundo y decidí empezar por Reino Unido. Aunque Londres era mi objetivo principal, pretendía conocer todo lo que fuera posible, porque fui en plan de turista.
Por ello, meses antes de viajar, saqué las entradas a las atracciones que para mí, eran innegociables, e investigando, descubrí Stonehenge. Su misterio y su silenciosa imponencia me hicieron asegurar que estaría allí, y así fue.
Recuerdo que el viaje fue un martes lluvioso que realicé en el marco de un tour. Llegar a la estación de buses y encontrar al grupo fue todo un desafío, sobre todo porque claramente decía mi ticket digital que se exigía puntualidad y que debía uno estar 15 minutos antes en el punto de encuentro.
Pues yo no lo encontraba, pero casi a las 8 de la mañana, horario límite de llegada, vi a un grupo de gente con el cartel de la empresa que había utilizado para comprar aquella experiencia, GetYourGuide.
No tenía idea de donde estábamos, y poco a poco nos fuimos alejando de Londres, mientras nos adentrábamos en nubes bajas mezcladas con neblina, al tiempo que una fina lluvia amenazaba con acompañarnos hasta las rocas.
Bueno, no fue una amenaza finalmente, fue un hecho. La lluvia estuvo presente a cada paso mientras visitábamos el monumento. Monumento es una manera de decir, porque… veamos de qué se trata.
How was my experience?
Although it rained too much, being there was something "from another planet". The immensity of these rocks blew me away and so did the environment in which they are located. There is nothing. Let's see, not that it is nothing at all, since a whole kind of park has been created to protect the rocks and at the same time to attract tourists, but if not for that, one would be directly in front of a green plain where the rocks stand out for their unmatched size, which exceeds 6 meters in height, as the source EOS indicates.
The path around them is very pleasant, but I would have liked at least that it did not rain to be able to concentrate on such a creation. I have seen photos from other travelers where the sky is clear and there are even others at sunset, where the rocks stand out even more. Anyway, no complaints, the experience was excellent even with those weather conditions.
¿Cómo fue mi experiencia?
Aunque llovió demasiado, estar allí fue algo “de otro planeta”. La inmensidad de estas rocas me dejó boquiabierta y también el entorno en el que se encuentran. No hay nada. A ver, no es que sea nada de nada, pues se ha creado toda una especie de parque para proteger a las rocas y al mismo tiempo para atraer turistas, pero de no ser por eso, uno estaría directamente frente a una llanura verde en donde las rocas destacan por su inigualable tamaño, que supera los 6 metros de altura, como indica la fuente EOS.
El camino alrededor de ellas es muy ameno, pero sí que me hubiese gustado al menos que no lloviera para poder concentrarme en semejante creación. He visto fotos de otros viajeros en donde el cielo está despejado e incluso hay otras al atardecer, en donde las rocas destacan aún más. Igualmente, sin quejas, la experiencia fue excelente aún con aquellas condiciones meteorológicas.

They date from more than 2500 years before Christ and their peculiarity is that it is not known exactly how they got there and reached that order, when they weigh almost two tons and do not belong geologically to the region.

From my point of view, although people are always looking for a logical explanation, I really like to think that it is really an unsolved mystery. I mean... why couldn't it be extraterrestrials? Hehe.
Qué es Stonehenge
Estamos frente a una de esas cuestiones inexplicables que habitan el Planeta Tierra. Así como las Líneas de Nasca en Machu Pichu, nadie puede explicarse qué hacen esas rocas allí, dispuestas en círculo y con una particular organización que podría deberse a actos religiosos.
Datan de más de 2500 años antes de Cristo y su particularidad es que no se sabe exactamente cómo es que llegaron allí y alcanzaron ese orden, cuando pesan casi dos toneladas y no pertenecen geológicamente a la región.
Las teorías abarcan desde la presencia de extraterrestres hasta la existencia de trineos especializados, pero nada terminaría realmente de confirmar el medio de transporte de estos gigantes elementos para la fecha en que fueron ubicados en el lugar. Desde mi punto de vista, aunque las personas siempre busquemos otorgar una explicación lógica, me gusta mucho pensar en que es realmente un misterio sin resolver. Digo… ¿por qué no podrían ser extraterrestres? Jeje.
If you ask me if I recommend my experience, my answer is a resounding YES! But you have to like nature and to stay contemplating a space, especially a landscape. If you are a person who prefers the city, the hustle and bustle, the shopping, the people, then I would recommend much more to stay in the city of London, as it has everything to offer.
Stonehenge also has a very particular energy and you would be in front of something exclusive, unique on the face of the earth.
Si me preguntan si recomiendo mi experiencia, mi respuesta es un rotundo ¡SÍ! Pero te tiene que gustar la naturaleza y el quedarte contemplando un espacio, en especial un paisaje. Si eres una persona que prefiere la ciudad, el bullicio, las tiendas para comprar, la gente, entonces te recomendaría mucho más quedarte en la ciudad de Londres, ya que tiene todo para ofrecer.
Igualmente Stonehenge tiene una energía muy particular y estarías frente a algo exclusivo, único sobre la faz de la tierra.
