Hello friends, I bring you the second part of what was so far the longest trail I have done in Portugal, with more than 43km the (GR11 E9) is a challenge for those who love nature and hiking, this post continues from Fte Telha beach to Almada, which is already part of Lisbon, if you didn't see my previous post I will summarize I did a hike along the entire Atlantic coast of Portugal starting from Sesimbra to the Tagus River, specifically in the village (Porto Brandão), in this adventure we will pass by many viewpoints, we will see some forests, beaches, villages and even a 16th century church, join me!📸🌊

Continuation of the trail🧭🚩 /Continuacion del sendero🌎🗺️

I was saying in my previous post that there was too much material and things to overlook so I decided to split the walk into two posts, I left my house at 5am, starting from Sesimbra and arriving in Almada at approximately 7:00pm, taking advantage of the summer when the sun only sets at 9:00pm, this post starts here: (38.588830, -9.197302) and I'm heading north! I'll continue, the first place we'll pass will be the "raposas" forest and we'll pass by a set of viewpoints! I made several stops but not for a maximum of 10 minutes, I changed my shirt twice because of the sweat and the heat that in the area reaches 38 degrees.🚩📸🗺️

Forest of the "foxes"🧭🚩 /Bosque de las "raposas"🌎🗺️

When do we know that we are in the forest? Simple when we find these signs that indicate which path we have to follow, they will lead us to the traditional red and white wooden signs, as you can see in the first photos it is an open landscape with many tall pine trees but quickly when we enter the "raposa" reserve the environment changes and the forest has different characteristics, there is humidity and beautiful bushes appear, why its name? because in the afternoons and at night the forest comes to life and we see many mountain foxes here digging in the sand looking for food.🌳⛰️

I loved the trail because of the level of difficulty it represented, to the point that I had to be careful not to miss the signs that some of them had even been painted, I suppose because they were once a private area, but it is quite an adventure that I recommend doing with your friends or partner, you will not be able to do it with children because a child does not have the level of difficulty that the trail demands of you.⛰️🌳

"Raposa" Viewpoint🧭🚩 /Mirador "Raposa"🌎🗺️

View of the beach "fte telha"📸
Our first viewpoint is called "raposa" because it is inside the aforementioned forest. We have a literal 180 degree view and we are at more than 150 meters high. We can see two beaches called Fte Telha and another called (Bela Vista). Here we must continue following the sign (GR11 E9), that is, the red and white one. Do not take the wooden bridge that is here!🧭📸

Leaving the forest and entering the signs🧭🚩 /Salida del bosque y entrada a las senalizaciones🌎🗺️

After leaving the forest and seeing the viewpoint, we will go through another narrow path but this one is only sand and quite uncomfortable, by the way it slowed me down a lot and consumed a lot of energy, then we will come out at some military installations and we will see good signage for our path that little by little will take us to the coast and there the landscape will be more beautiful.🧭📸

Second viewpoint "arriba"🧭🚩 /Segundo mirador "arriba"🌎🗺️

This is our second viewpoint, the view is almost the same but we have the option of being able to see the Sintra mountain range, Lisbon, and clearly the Fte Telha mountain range in the distance, which is a protected area. By the way, if you want more details about its history, you can access one of my past posts! So far there are probably about 12km left to finish.🚵🏻♀️📸

Carrascalinho village🧭🚩 /aldea Carrascalinho🌎🗺️

When we reached the village of Carrascalinho we literally stopped walking through the forest, instead we entered a sandy path with many plantations on our right, and on the left we could see the Atlantic Ocean.📸🚵🏻♀️

Third viewpoint🧭🚩 /Tercer mirador🌎🗺️

penultimate viewpoint📸
According to the description of the trail we are at the penultimate viewpoint and we are on our way to the "dos capuchos" viewpoint along with its church, here we are less than 6km away from completely finishing our adventure!🧭📸

Optional viewpoint (Q.ta da Aldeia)🧭🚩 /Mirador opcional (Q.ta da Aldeia)🌎🗺️

Now we pass through a village called: (Q.ta da Aldeia) which is also part of our route and is where the church is located, here I made a detour of a few meters to enjoy this beautiful viewpoint!📸🌎

Church of the "Capuchos"🧭🚩 /Iglesia de los "capuchos")🌎🗺️

This is a must-see on the GR11 E9 trail. The church of the "capuchos" is a symbol of the village. It is classified as a national heritage site and was built in the 16th century and restored in the 17th century after the earthquake! Unfortunately for me, it was closed as you can see and I couldn't get in.📸🚩

"O Capuchos" viewpoint🧭🚩 /Mirador "o capuchos"🌎🗺️

"Porto brandao" 5km to finish🧭🚩 /"Porto brandao" 5km para terminar🌎🗺️

We are 2km away from finishing this great odyssey, it was a personal challenge because I have never done so many kilometers for a trail! However, I enjoyed every moment and every place I visited, one day I will do it again but perhaps in spring with a nicer climate and with many flowers to see how the landscape changes! I am on a main road on the way to the village "Brandao" which is a small port.🚩📸

Another must-see if you come as a tourist to Portugal and stay in the Lisbon area, visiting the village is quite interesting because throughout the history of our country it has always been inhabited by several civilizations, in fact objects that belonged to the Romans were collected, currently it is quiet, little known and visited, but with top public service and transportation! From here you can take the boat to go to Lisbon.⛰️🌳📸

Objective accomplished🧭🚩 /Objetivo cumplido🌎🗺️

There is proof of where I am, as you can see we reached the tip of Almada, the Tejo river is the only obstacle that separates us from the center of Lisbon, of course this belongs to Lisbon! I accomplished the goal of walking more than 42km! I hope you enjoyed my adventure and that it motivates you to visit my country and enjoy the most beautiful things in Europe!🚵🏻♀️📸🧭
