What a piece of trail I had to walk today! Few know but Napelon had some battles within Portuguese territory, many of them at the beginning of the 18th century and which is titled the Peninsular War and well, within Portuguese territory, several Napoleonic battles took place in various parts of the region, including in the center and north. of the country, according to historical records along the road where I made my way Napoleon and his troops were able to advance with the help of the Spanish! What better path to share with you than this?🌏🍍

As you can see, the adventure begins when you come across this sign that invites you to advance along the path and which has a writing that says: "destination Napoleon" and this was a defensive line of Portugal located in the south-center composed of several military forts, here it is believed that Napoleon and his troops were heading to the city of Bucelas to which we are going to go because it is where our path ends! It's not easy to locate it on Google maps so I'll leave you the coordinates: (38.887560, -9.126299) you can come walking from the northern end of Loures to here, it's about 6km I think! or bring your car, there is a small parking lot but I don't recommend leaving it there!🚙🌍

Trail characteristics🧭🌍/Caracteristicas del sendero🍍🚩

The trail lasts 1 hour and a little bit of walking, it is not circular so you will have to turn back at the end of the path or go to the second trail in the center of the city of Bucelas which I recommend because it is quite beautiful, and you can extend the walk for a few 9-12km and walking between 2-3 hours, the best time? In winter when the day is sunny first because you see the river at its maximum flow as well as some waterfalls that you are going to pass! I recommend you come prepared with rain gear, boots, hiking poles, water and food, however, as you will pass through the village you can buy things there! so the trail is not isolated and dangerous! Quite the opposite, super safe!🌄🌊🧭

What can you do on the trail?🧭🌍/Que puedes hacer en el sendero?🍍🚩

Riverside path🌍🚩
The trail is super well organized and it is impossible to get lost, so I congratulate the municipal chamber for investing in tourism! Along the trail you can make several stops and first of all enjoy the landscape, which is beautiful! Sport fishing is allowed, you can walk with your pet as well as exercise, you can even do the trail by bicycle! And for me the most important thing is birdwatching because the river, as you can see in the photo, is full of birds of all kinds!👀🧭🌏

As you advance along the trail the weather is quite pleasant even though the summer is hot and the climate is even more interesting. I do not recommend it because you will not see the Trancão River as you see it in my photo and of course this causes the biodiversity to decrease and you see fewer animals. Your path, everything is very nice and clean. Something that caught my attention is that in spring, as there are many plants, or in autumn, the landscape must be "brutal" because you see fallen leaves along the path and you have a quite beautiful effect. In reality, you can see in one of my photos the leaves!🍍🧭🌊

Why visit the trail? This trail has everything to enjoy a fantastic experience in Loures. I was reading that it is part of an environmental recovery project applying Engineering. environmental, as I mentioned, the municipal chamber invested a lot of money because in the surrounding area there is a lot of agriculture, grape planting and industries, therefore the pollution that was here was destroying the ecology of the river but the chamber recovered it and made several prohibitions!🌄📚🚵♂️

The path, when you have been walking for about 3km I would say or a little more, you begin to see the beautiful landscape of the Loures mountain range. In reality, you have landscapes everywhere, on one side Sintra, on the other Loures, and of course we are getting closer to the city of Bucelas, which is small quiet and relaxed few inhabitants but full of many interesting things to visit!🚵♂️🧭

Bucelas the small village surrounded by the river🧭🌍/Bucelas 🍍🚩

almost intact architecture🧭🚩
When you enter the town of Bucelas I think it cannot even be classified as a city because it is quite small, very few inhabitants, you do not see foreigners here so the landscape is quite calm! Of course in winter, in summer you might get people making trails! It seems like a retirement place, you also see agriculture everywhere, you don't see big buildings and of course the river surrounds the city making it quite pretty and picturesque!👀🧭🌏
