Greetings traveling friends! Many when they think of Portugal imagine a country full of beautiful beaches, castles, medieval cities and of course Portugal has all that to offer you but people like me make the most of all the tourist attractions that Portugal has for all adventurers and one of those places It is this beautiful trail that begins in the village: "Casal dos Gemeos" passes through the Sierra de Olelas and ends at the small waterfall of "Fervenca" all this in a journey of approximately 10km!ππ§
One of the characteristics that made me fall in love with this trail is its easy access, you are about 20 minutes from Lisbon you can take a taxi for only 14 euros and stay in the village of Olelas or you can also take a bus, either way you have a easy access! Now the trail itself is another story, I think it's a little abandoned and that makes it a bit difficult to get the correct route, the undergrowth is quite high and be careful because there are many bushes with thorns, my recommendation? hiking boots, pants and a shirt that covers your whole body and lots of water! inside the sierra there is a lot of humidity and you lose a lot of water in sweat!ππ§π
we could climb about 234 meters high, therefore I recommend you to do the trail with hiking poles, it is not dangerous but very demanding, as we enter the mountain, we see many abandoned houses and it gives the sensation of being very old structures! According to the law, there are some buildings that date back to the 18th century.ππ§

I went with a colleague to the mountain, normally when the place is new for me I try to go with someone because I read that when you go up to the highest point of the Sierra it is quite dangerous, so it is better to go with a friend or family! Can you go with small children? I think so but be very careful and never leave them far behind! Sierra de Olelas is a geographical formation whose main rock is granite and that over time formed a large number of caves!πππ

Another of the interesting characteristics of this path is being able to be surrounded by other mountains, for example, here you have a nice view of the Sintra mountain range and you can also see the Pena Palace and the Mouros castle, there are some people who do professional hiking and They do hikes from Olelas to Sintra, it's not very far but you can go one day, so many take tents to sleep in!π§π

40 MINUTES WALKπ
After we walked for forty minutes through the Sierra de Olelas we arrived at our first stop which is the cave, these caves are quite interesting and are highly studied by Portuguese paleontologists because for thousands of years the first ancestors who inhabited Mediterranean lands lived here!ππ§

The caves are not very deep or at least as far as we can go! but there are moments where you can see small entrances that I imagine were used by our ancestors, since before people were very small, these caves provided shelter, food, security! If I'm not mistaken, people lived here in the Paleolithic!ππ§π

After leaving the cave behind we started a climb between the rocks of the mountain to reach the highest point that would be about 253 meters, it was fast but quite dangerous! nice view up here right? we have access to several villages including Sintra; To continue our adventure we will go through several villages about 8km until we reach the waterfall!π§ππ©

After leaving the Sierra de Olelas, we walk eight kilometers passing through the villages: "Pero Pinheiro", "Morelena", until we reach the Terrugem village, which is where the waterfall is located! The road here is very easy, you literally go through a rural area, until you reach the main road, then you make a detour and in a matter of almost two hours you are there!ππ

Well, my friends, after a very demanding day, we managed to complete the more than 12 km of the route, I think we did a total of 17 km, so it was quite fun! the waterfall is beautiful and quite crowded by many tourists! Despite this area being isolated, it has beautiful landscapes as you could see!ππ
