Hola amigos viajeros 🍍 Feliz lunes e inicio de semana, espero hayan tenido un excelente fin de semana. Por este lado les cuento que tuve un fin de semana de relajación y a la vez super divertido; con mi mamá y unos amigos decidimos viajar al municipio de Juan de Acosta, ya que en semana santa no pudimos viajar, en este municipio están las playas de Santa Verónica por lo que con mayor razón decidimos tomarnos el sábado y domingo como unas mini vacaciones, como no queríamos devolvernos el mismo día se nos ocurrió alquilar unas cabañas en el municipio Colombiano para descansar y pasar un fin de semana diferente alejados un poquito de la rutina diaria.
Las playas de Santa Verónica están a unos 48-50 minutos en carro desde Barranquilla, por lo que decidimos salir tipo 10:30 am para disfrutar del recorrido y poder llegar a las cabañas a tiempo, dejar nuestras maletas y salir a la playa a disfrutar del mar, la brisa y un rico almuerzo.
Me gustó que durante todo el recorrido apreciamos mucho el verde de los arboles y justo en la entrada de Santa Verónica había una especie de túnel creado por los mismos arboles y sus ramas, aunque nada como apreciarlo en persona realmente.
Hello fellow travelers 🍍 Happy Monday and start of the week, I hope you had a great weekend. On this side I tell you that I had a weekend of relaxation and at the same time super fun; with my mom and some friends we decided to travel to the town of Juan de Acosta, since in Easter we could not travel, in this town are the beaches of Santa Veronica so with more reason we decided to take Saturday and Sunday as a mini vacation, as we did not want to return the same day we thought to rent cabins in the Colombian town to rest and spend a different weekend away from the daily routine a little bit.
The beaches of Santa Veronica are about 48-50 minutes by car from Barranquilla, so we decided to leave around 10:30 am to enjoy the tour and be able to get to the cabins on time, leave our bags and go to the beach to enjoy the sea, the breeze and a nice lunch.
I liked that during the whole tour we appreciated the green of the trees and right at the entrance of Santa Veronica there was a kind of tunnel created by the trees and their branches, although nothing like really appreciate it in person.
Llegamos a las cabañas y la verdad nos gustó muchísimo el lugar, se sentía un ambiente bastante tranquilo y nos dimos cuenta a demás, que éramos los únicos huéspedes por lo que se sentía todo más pacifico, en este post no entraré mucho en detalle sobre las cabañas ya que pienso dejarlo para otra ocasión donde les comentaré más a profundidad sobre el lugar por si en algún momento desean venir a Colombia y alojarse en un sitio lindo.
Dejamos las maletas y todo listo en la cabaña para dirigirnos a la playa, creo que las más emocionadas con la idea eran Zoe y Molly (las bebés perrunas de la casa) Ya que al llegar corrieron en seguida a revolcarse en la arena.
Llegando a la playa también aprovechamos para preguntar por los precios y pedir el almuerzo con anticipación, el almuerzo constaba del plato típico de la playa, arroz de coco, patacones, pescado (en este caso mojarra roja), ensalada y sopa de pescado, tuvo un valor de $30.000 pesos colombianos ($6.78 dólares) y como habíamos llevado una neverita con cervezas y bebidas no fue necesario pedir para acompañar el plato.
We arrived at the cabins and we really liked the place, it felt quite quiet and we realized that we were the only guests so everything felt more peaceful, in this post I will not go into much detail about the cabins because I will leave it for another time where I will tell you more in depth about the place if you ever want to come to Colombia and stay in a nice place.
We left our bags and everything ready in the cabin to go to the beach, I think the most excited with the idea were Zoe and Molly (the dog babies of the house) because when we arrived they ran immediately to roll in the sand.
Arriving at the beach we also took the opportunity to ask about prices and order lunch in advance, lunch consisted of the typical beach dish, coconut rice, patacones, fish (in this case red mojarra), salad and fish soup, it cost $30,000 Colombian pesos ($6.78 dollars) and since we had brought a cooler with beers and drinks it was not necessary to order to accompany the dish.
El almuerzo estaba super rico y la verdad pienso que estaba bastante bien el precio debido a la cantidad y calidad de este. Al terminar, nos reposamos y luego decidimos bañarnos un rato en el mar ya que se veía bastante provocativo pero debo admitir que el agua de esta playa estaba un poco salada, fría y las olas algo fuertes pero suponemos es por la temporada ya que por lo general suelen ser bastante tranquilas, la cuestión es que no duramos mucho bañándonos, más sin embargo, tratamos de disfrutar.
Luego de un rato nos dedicamos a caminar por la playa para que las perritas pasearan, entraran más en confianza con el mar y bueno, también aproveche para tomar varias fotos y admirar el paisaje.
The lunch was super tasty and the truth is that the price was quite good for the quantity and quality of the food. When we finished, we rested and then decided to bathe for a while in the sea as it looked quite provocative but I must admit that the water of this beach was a little salty, cold and the waves were a little strong but we guess it is because of the season as they are usually quite calm, the point is that we did not last long bathing, but nevertheless, we tried to enjoy.
After a while we took a walk along the beach so that the dogs could walk around, get more confident with the sea and well, I also took the opportunity to take some pictures and admire the scenery.
Algo que no sabía pero me explicaron es que por lo general cuando la marea sube, los dueños de negocios en las playas construyen muros de contención con piedras, sacos de arena y hasta cemento (como pudieron observar arriba, en la primera fotografía) para que así el mar no los inunde.
La verdad no conocía las playas de Santa Verónica más allá de su nombre, pero solo con la atención y cariño de su gente, el ambiente y su paisaje quedé enamorada, sin duda son una excelente opción para vacacionar o pasar un fin de semana alejados de la rutina, eso si, si deseas bañarte con tranquilidad lo mejor es esperar a la temporada adecuada para que las olas no seas tan fuertes. Something I did not know but they explained to me is that usually when the tide rises, the owners of businesses on the beaches build retaining walls with stones, sandbags and even cement (as you could see above, in the first picture) so that the sea does not flood them.
The truth is I did not know the beaches of Santa Veronica beyond its name, but only with the attention and affection of its people, the atmosphere and its landscape I fell in love, no doubt they are an excellent choice for a vacation or a weekend away from the routine, that if, you want to bathe in peace it is best to wait for the right season so that the waves are not so strong.
