My last day down under. It's been a hell of a ride, but tomorrow will be a return home. All that I can't leave behind is both waiting for me and being left behind me, but within me, an altered state resides.
There's been plenty of food along this trip. I'm a real foodie, in part because I'm a recipe creator, and I've discovered plenty of inspiration with few disappointments. Mostly, it's savored connecting with other people. We share our stories over food. Laugh and love over smacking sumptuous fingers and exchanging lingering looks over luxurious flavors. And sometimes, just sometimes, need a Responsible Person to look over us so our childlike playfulness doesn't spill over to distract other guests.
That's where Kelly steps in. She was our wine brunch overseer at Seppeltsfield Winery in the Barossa Valley. I asked her about the title. In essence, it was to make sure that we had a great experience without anyone overdoing their alcohol consumption. All's good here, Kell.
Later, it was time for one more hike in Morialta before a celebration dinner with our friends. Their love and generosity has made our stay so wonderful, and I will again miss them dearly.
I will also miss my Morialta walks, and captured this picture to remind me of the serene pleasures I continue to discover there with each footstep. It was appropriate that the song "Life Goes On" looped through my ear buds as I eased my way through twilight:
"Easy come, hard go. Then life goes on."
