After New Year's Eve, I came to visit my parents for a few days. It started snowing yesterday before noon. In recent years, we have had very little snow during the winter and I thought it would snow a little and melt quickly. But this time I was wrong. It snowed all day and almost all night. A beautiful snow cover of white color was created.
I wanted to capture this scene with my phone and immediately took a photo from the living room window.
After lunch, I went to my friend's place for coffee and to take a short walk along the street and enjoy the snow that was falling. When I was going down the Serbian hill where my parents live, I passed the street by the Catholic church. This church is a symbol of the White Church because it was named after it because it is white in color.
Then across the street from the Catholic Church is Russian Park, and I captured this scene of the snow cover in the park with my phone.
Then I passed by the Municipality building and stopped to photograph the monument to the bust of Melanija Bugarinović.
For those of you who may not have heard of Melanija, she was born in Bela Crkva. She has been singing since childhood. And she became a famous opera singer in Europe. She was a member of the Opera of the National Theater in Belgrade. She is remembered as the first Serbian woman with a permanent engagement in the Vienna Opera, as well as the first Serbian woman to take part in the Bayreuth Festival in Germany. Also, a street in Novi Sad is named after her.
On my way back home it was getting dark and I stopped by the Russian Park and took some more interesting photos
The Russians fled to Bela Crkva after the Russian Revolution and the assassination of Tsar Nikolai Romanov. Here they built their church dedicated to Saint John the Theologian. They also had their own school and the Russian Corps. In the park there is also a monument to the Russian soldiers who died in the Second World War defending their new homeland, Bela Crkva.
My parents live on the hill in Bela Crkva. From the terrace of their house, there is a beautiful view of the Bela Crkva. Bela Crkva is located 11 km from the Romanian border and the slopes of the Carpathian Mountains in Romania can be seen beautifully. I went out on the terrace and took these photos.
Thanks for reading my post. If you like the White Church and the photos I shared with you, feel free to write me a comment. 😊
