The year after I graduated was perhaps one of the most exhilarating years of my life. I was finally an adult, and I was seeing everything that the world had to offer, including getting on a plane and visiting the boy that I admired out in Alberta! He had a pretty good gig going: work for the staff of the Fairmount Hotel, and live on the surrounding property free of charge! Again, the opportunity of a lifetime, two kids experiencing life for the first time.
Bear in mind, these photos were taken a few years ago on a cellphone camera; the quality is not the best. This was also my first time seeing the mountains in person, so I was buzzing! It also does not help that some photos were taken from inside of a moving bus! Like this:
Not my greatest shot! However, not but an hour later, these two gems:
(Haha! You know you're a foodie when you need to take a picture of an A&W!!)
Anyway, here is the hotel that he worked at: the Lake Louise Fairmount Hotel! I am sad to report that I did not capture photos of the inside. I did not want to deal with people, and my crush did not want to be at his workplace! Regardless, you can imagine the views from the hotel are amazing--look at these mountains!
(Punchbuggy! See it there, to the right of the photo? Is this game that is played in other countries as well?! Every time you see a Volkswagen Buggy, you punch the person next to you!)
Alberta is quite a magical place to visit. Although the winters are harsh and unforgiving, there is something about experiencing the great outdoors during this time that I do not have words for. Truly is a breath of fresh air.. I hope to visit again next year, this time with a better camera in hand!
