Olympos Cable Car, in other words Olympos Teleferik, has been in our ears every time we visited Turkey for 3 years and you know, on the third year curiosity finally won. Olympos Teleferik is located approximately 50 km from the center of Antalya. It is located in Beidaglari National Park, at an altitude of 2365 m above sea level.
Because of all the bad rumours, we are suspicious of such entertainment, but the management of the Olympos cable car assures that they employ only qualified managers who have undergone training in mountain rescue techniques and are responsible for the functionality of the equipment at the top and the safety of visitors in accordance with legal regulations . So friends, we can rest easy, serious guys hang out here.
So, it all starts with a civilized but serpentine road uphill to the lower station, the departure point. If you came by car, you can use the free parking lot, with a gorgeous lake as a landscape. It diversifies the surrounding area or not. The lower station is located at the quiet foot of the majestic peak of Mount Olympos amidst the greenery of the national park. While you wait for your ascent, you can enjoy a coffee on the observation terrace of my friend, the Shakespeare chain, for a second. There you will be able to see a beautiful view of the mountain ranges merging with the horizon. But be careful, funiculars can go very imperceptibly without you ๐
And here is the solemn moment, our expedition begins with boarding in the panoramic cabin, which accommodates a maximum of 80 people and is equipped with large windows, a little dirty, but tolerable. Within 10 minutes, you climb to the highest point of Antalya, 2365m above sea level, meanwhile you can watch the breathtaking scenery stretching along the whole abyss that stretches under your feet.
The height, where the tree cover ends and the clean limestone surface of the mountain begins to be seen, begins with Mount Takhtala, approximately 1900 m above sea level.
And finally you have arrived! The upper station of the cable car has three floors and is even equipped with an elevator.
Well, what is expected of a cafe to buy a croissant and look at the high-altitude landscape more deliciously. Also a lyrical digression, there is an attraction on which, in a nutshell, a person is tied to something and swings over a cliff, I don't remember the details.
When we were down we thought we wouldn't be able to see anything because of the likely cloudy weather here, but it turned clear at the top.
These endless wide expanses of desert mountains cause such ambiguous emotions.
This surface of the mountains is so unusual and beautiful and it seemed as if you had climbed not to 2,365 meters, but much higher and landed right on Saturn. It's something so new and untouched, and if I wasn't so lazy and cowardly, I'd buy a one-way ticket and walk back down the mountains.
Why cowardly, because you never know who you may meet in the wild expanses of mountain gorges. Although the local wildlife here is not as rich as in Australia and includes only songbirds and birds of prey, small reptiles such as turtles, lizards and chameleons, there are also mammals such as wild boars, wolves, badgers and Lynx. and they are very dangerous for a second! Who is willing to argue with me?
But for now, I'm still here, standing on the observation deck and taking pictures for you...
From a distance, you can see green bays, where people swim and enjoy the warm sun, and I stand here in the cold and hungry, because I myself was carried here. In fact, this is how our friends scared us, that there will be absolutely unfavorable conditions for existence here and we will throw money away, $40 per adult by the way.
But as in many cases, other people's words are not the same as one's own impression and experience. In fact, I wasn't cold and I didn't even need my jacket. Don't trust anyone!
I have many fears and the fear of heights is not an exception, but despite this, I have been drawn to heights all my life. My fear never stopped me from high impressions hahahah)
Hope for your support, respected ๐๐๐
I was most excited to stare at all these clusters of greenery around the entire perimeter of the mountain range. Our cable car ride passed over a national park with rare cedars, red and black pines, dwarf shrubs and deciduous trees.
And a more bare area, at the height of which only lichens and mosses can survive, begins at about 1900 m above sea level.
I can say that this funicular is one of my favorite pastimes and I would advise you, as well as myself, never to miss the opportunity to ride one.
