Today friends, I want to talk to you about a very beautiful thing, something that people manage to do, that they have managed to do and that if they want to do things together they always manage to achieve them, today I will talk to you about my visit to the tomb of Ellisiya, which is located near the Egyptian museum, in fact it has a lot to do with Egypt and can be visited completely free of charge, just take and book the ticket online on the website of the Egyptian museum of Turin
It is basically a Nubian temple that was carved into the rock in Egypt, it dates back to around 1450 BC, and it is a place of worship dedicated to Egyptian deities. In the 1960s, a very important event happened: Egypt had to build a dam because it needed water, but this would have led to the flooding of many museums, and so Italy participated in the rescue of these Egyptian temples. It is a wonderful thing when people participate in something truly cultural. As a thank you, Egypt donated the temple to Italy, and it was made available to all people to visit for free, as it was a gift.
So basically in 1966 it was dismantled, transported and rebuilt in Turin, but this is one of the last installations which was inaugurated last year, because it took many years to be able to reassemble this structure with this central corridor and two lateral rooms partly decorated with ritual scenes and pharaoh offerings. But the real surprise is that this place was also used as a Christian place. In fact there are crosses engraved in the stone inside this Temple.
It's very beautiful because now there is an interactive part, which explains the whole history of this temple, and it was very moving for me to understand the history and see the collaboration between different peoples to save this monument that belongs to the world, if you pass by Turin, stop by because it's a visit. It's very short because it lasts about 20 minutes, but in my opinion it's very beautiful to see it live and to be able to understand the history behind this important monument.
I hope my photos and my story were interesting, see you next time and I wish you all a good day
